When you're chasing the dragon, reality rushes as if you're taking off in a rocket and then slows down to the point where you lose the capacity to discern whether seconds pass in minutes or hours. The euphoria is triumphant and all encompassing. It's not abnormal to forget about that needle in your arm.

Like Wyo said - when that rush hits nothing matters and you may completely lose track that it's even in there.

Although the kid they picked up in my neighbor's drive way a couple years ago was able to fall out of his car with the needle in his arm onto the pavement. Probably saved what was left of his life since people could see him.

So, not a fan of this guy or his work. Hell, I don't even know his name or care enough to scroll up the page to copy and paste it in. Not that I didn't like him, per se, but I'm just not much on movies or TV for that matter. I will say, however, for those of you who were a fan, I am sorry for your loss. A guitarist from a band that I really like out here in Chicago did basically the same thing a couple of years ago, and I was really busted up over that. In both cases, they were very talented individuals who just turned left when they should have turned right.

Not being a fan or connected to anything that he's done, seeing this just pisses me off. Pisses me off for his kids and those left behind. Pisses me off because, from a very selfish POV, we all lose out when this happens.

I guess, when it comes to main stream entertainment, Robert Downey Jr. is as close as it gets for me when it comes to people I like battling demons like this. I think that RDJ is a good example of what we could have missed out on had he kept going in the wrong direction. It's a shame.
