I aim to misbehave
Wake up JCOSU! I guess everyone has Jumped off the bandwagon :wink2:

Danny pitched well today, and Meister managed to squirm out of trouble to get the save.

Indiana has a couple of good arms, so winning this series is not a slamdunk IMO. I'm thinking IUs poor fielding will bite them in at least one game this weekend.

We are 2 games out of first as of late Friday evening, so all is not lost; but i gotta admit..its been tough to shake off last weekend. :scum3:

Lol, sorry rhg, very busy day at work today. I'd like to sweep the Hoosiers.

Here's a wrapup from the Official Site:

Box Score

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Dan DeLucia came within one out of his third complete game of the season, but was bailed out by closer Rory Meister as the Buckeyes beat Indiana 4-3 to claim the first game of a four-game Big Ten series Friday at Sembower Field.
DeLucia, a junior left-handed pitcher from Columbus, Ohio (Bishop Watterson), had allowed only two hits in the first seven innings, gave up two hits in the eighth. He started the ninth with a pair of fly outs, but allowed three straight hits to load he bases to draw a visit from head coach Bob Todd. Todd kept DeLucia in the game, but he walked his first batter of the game to make the score 4-2.
Todd then went to the bullpen for Meister, the sophomore right-handed closer from Mansfield, Ohio (Mansfield Madison). Mesiter walked his first batter to pull the Hoosiers within one run, but on his very next pitch, Ryan Parker, who played at Hilliard Davidson High School, flied out to right to end the game.
DeLucia picked up his sixth win of the year against two losses in going 8.2 innings. His six wins are the most by a Big Ten pitcher and equaled his total from 2005. He allowed the three runs on seven hits, though limited the Hoosiers to just two hits through seven innings. He finished the game with five strikeouts and the one walk. Meister picked up his fourth save of the season in facing just two batters. Clint Crossier took the loss for Indiana to fall to 2-3.
The Buckeyes could not make anything of the three hits they had in the first two innings and then snapped a string of three straight innings with three hits to start the top of the sixth inning.
Matt Angle (So., Whitehall, Ohio/Whitehall-Yearling) led off the inning with a single to left-center field and went to second when Eric Fryer (So., Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) followed with a single to shallow center field. Ronnie Bourquin (Jr., Canton, Ohio/Canton South), who was going to bunt until he had two strikes on him, singled to left to plate Angle and break the scoreless tie.

After Jedidiah Stephen (Sr., Caldwell, Ohio/Shenandoah) popped up a bunt for the first out of the inning, the runners were in motion for designated hitter Adam Schneider (Jr., Agoura Hills, Calif./Agoura), who doubled down the left-field line to score two runs and give Ohio State a 3-0 lead.
Indiana spoiled the shutout with a pair of two-out hits in the bottom of the eighth inning. Keith Haas singled up the middle after a pair of fly outs started the inning. Ben Greenspan drove him in with a double to the right-center field gap to make it a two-run game.
The Buckeyes got the run back in the top of the ninth. Schneider drew a walk to lead off the inning and was replaced by Tony Kennedy (So., Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South). He went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jason Zoeller (Jr., Verona, Pa./Shady Side Academy) and then scored on a two-out error by Hoosier short stop Josh Richardson.
Schneider was the only Buckeye with multiple hits, going 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI on his sixth-inning double. The Buckeyes out-hit Indiana 8-7 and the Hoosiers committed the games only error. Haas and Reggie Watson each had two hits for the Hoosiers (13-21 overall, 4-9 Big Ten). Ohio State (22-11, 7-6) and Indiana will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1:05 p.m. before concluding the series Sunday with a single game at 1:05 p.m.

Coach Todd left Delucia and Shuck in way too long. We still won their starts(games 1 & 4), but i think CT needs to bring the hook a little sooner.

3 of 4 was just what we needed..we are still 2 games out after scUM and NW took 3 of 4 as well. I still cannot believe that we are chasing NW !!

Eric Fryer lead the Buckeyes
going 3-5 at the plate.

April 23, 2006

Box Score

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Ohio State built an 8-0 lead thanks to three triples and survived a six-run eighth inning by Indiana to claim an 8-6 victory Sunday at Sembower Field to win the series three games to one. The Buckeyes have won three conference series 3-1 this season, also having won series against Iowa and Illinois.
Ohio State scored four runs in the top of the first inning, using a pair of triples, two passed balls and an error. Matt Angle (So., Whitehall, Ohio/Whitehall-Yearling) singled through the right side with one out and went to second on a passed ball by Indiana catcher Ben Greenspan. He scored when a ball hit by Eric Fryer (So., Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) went off the glove of rightfielder Andrew Means. Fryer reached third on the three-base error.
Ronnie Bourquin (Jr., Canton, Ohio/Canton) followed with a triple to right-center field to score Fryer and then after Jedidiah Stephen (Sr., Caldwell, Ohio/Shenandoah) drew a walk, Adam Schneider (Jr., Agoura Hills, Calif./Agoura) sent a ball to the wall in centerfield and legged out another triple to score both Bourquin and Stephen and give the Buckeyes a 4-0 lead before Indiana came to the plate.
The Buckeyes added a pair of runs in the top of the second to take a six-run lead. Jacob Howell (Jr., Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) singled through the right side with one out and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Angle. Fryer followed with a triple to right center field to score Jonathan Zizzo (So., Youngstown, Ohio/Sarasota [Fla.]), who had come in to run for Howell, who, with a 5-0 lead left the game for precautionary measures in regard to the hamstring he pulled April 5 against Miami (Ohio). Fryer scored on a wild pitch.

Ohio State had hit two triples in four games this season, but this was the first game it had hit three in a game. The Buckeyes now have 20 triples this season, which is tied for the third most in a season. They also had 20 triples in 1997. The record of 25 was set in 1991. The 1966 national championship team had 23 triples.
Fryer hit a home run with one on and two out in the fourth inning to build an 8-0 lead. Josh Hula (Fr., Castalia, Ohio/Margaretta) drew a walk to lead off the inning, but then after Hoosier starter Joe Vicini got a strikeout and a ground out, he was pulled from the game in favor of Doug Fleenor. Fryer took an 0-1 pitch from Fleenor and deposited over the fence in right-center field.
Indiana had put the lead-off runner on base in each the first three innings, but each time he was either erased or stranded by the Buckeye defense. The Hoosiers had runners reach second and third with one out in the fifth, but J.B. Shuck (Fr., Galion, Ohio/Galion) got a pop up and a ground out to get out of trouble.
Indiana got its first extra-base hit in the bottom of the eighth when Reggie Watson doubled with one out. Shuck, who had struck out Jay Brant to start the inning, followed Watson's double with a strikeout of Josh Richardson, but walked Cameron Satterwhite. A throwing error by Bourquin, the Buckeye third baseman, that would have been the final out of the inning, let the inning continue and then Keith Haas singled to right center field to score two runs and break up the shutout bid. After Shuck walked his next batter, coach Bob Todd went to his bullpen for Rory Meister (So., Mansfield, Ohio/Mansfield Madison).
Facing his batter, Meister walked in a run and then gave up a pinch-hit, bases-clearing, double down the left-field line by Jon Fixler that pulled Indiana with two runs, 8-6.
Shuck pitched 7.2 innings and allowed five unearned runs on eight hits to pick up his sixth win of the season against just one defeat. Vicini fell to 3-2 after giving up seven runs (six earned) on five hits in 3.2 innings. Meister was not eligible for the save.
Indiana out-hit the Buckeyes 11-8, getting five hits in the final two innings of the game. Fryer finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and scored three runs. Watson and Greenspan each had two hits for Indiana (14-23 overall, 5-11 Big Ten).
The Buckeyes (24-12, 9-7) return to Bill Davis Stadium Wednesday at noon for a contest against Cleveland State. The game marks the beginning of a stretch when Ohio State will play 15 of its final 19 regular season games at home. The Ohio State vs. Cleveland State game will not have a radio broadcast, but will feature GameTracker and streaming video at ohiostatebuckeyes.com.
