Hoax - about Clifford Irving's, em, unauthorized biography of Howard Hughes. Surprisingly good.

The Kingdom - FBI wreaks revenge for bombing of civilian compound in Saudi Arabia. Final fight scene with Jennifer Garner (Janet Hayes) is bitchin'.

What did you think of it? Debating on seeing it or not... Feedback would be muchly appreciated!

I was a little disappointed. I'm a fan of Burton's work. And I especially like his wife in his movies, she fits the roles so well. They are written for her but still, she does an exceptional job being the "crazy lady" romantic in her husband's movies.

Jonny Depp gets into every character he does extremely deeply. Too deeply lots of times.

But this one just seems shallow and two dimensional. He never really ever gets any other look on his face than the "OO look at me, I'm crazy and filled with hate and lust for revenge, you can tell by my REALLY WIDE EYES."

It's an adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name and I don't think it translated well. The tensions that are emphasized by the music in the musical are lost in the soundtrack of the movie. Burton's lush backgrounds are too dark and lose detail but they still manage to distract from the sounds which are fundamental to the musical format he kept.

It's watchable but it wasn't what I was hoping for.

Watched Michael Clayton last night and thought it was awesome. George Clooney was very good.

Also watched We Own the Night which I thought was pretty brutal. My girlfriend liked it though. I thought the story line sucked, and lots of over-acting.

Charlie Wilson's War is absolutely a must see. Not only is it very funny and entertaining, it also reviews an important part of history.

Agreed. I liked it the most of all the recent movies, with the exception of maybe "Juno". Hoffman and the other supporting actor (the one with the mustache who bugs his bottle of wine in his office) do a great job.

Mr. Brooks- Brilliant, twisted and just awesome. Highly highly recommended.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum on that one.....

I saw Untraceable on Saturday and thought it was decent. Not as good as a lot of the movies that have been out recently, but I thought it was entertaining.
