And Now For Something Completely Different- I found it in my VHS collection, dusted it off and put it the VCR. Lots of my favorite Monty Python bits in that movie.

As much as I love 'Holy Grail', my two favorite Monty Python movies are 'Completely Different' and 'Meaning of Life'.

For sheer random sketch quality, those two are tops. Of course Holy Grail (and possibly Life of Brian) are the only two with a story.

I got annoyed by my last movie.

I saw Rise of the Apes or whatever.

My at the time Argentinean girlfriend noted afterwards, when we agreed that it was awful, that it was "made for Americans." I'm sure everyone here knows I'm not the most patriotic person in typical terms, but that angered me, and we are no longer together. All of her friends and the people I hung out with for a bit were foreign, and they all hated us. It was like, why are you here then? You are free to leave.

Anyway, yeah, the movie was awful. It had no plot or climax. It just ran on until it was done.

Edit: I also had fun with this. "What is your favorite band?" The Decemberists. "They make music for Americans." What is your favorite movie? Etc.

I know for the most part movies are released worldwide, but let's be honest, isn't America where they are going to make the most money? Why wouldn't they try and make it more enjoyable for us.

She meant that we were stupid and like explosions and helicopters.

At the same, I must admit I really like explosions and helicopters.

no shit. I don't go see a movie called "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" because I want to hear poetry........

The next movie I saw was "Under the Same Moon" (or something like that). It was all in Spanish. It was about a kid who came to the USA to find his mother.

There were no helicopters or robots. BORING. (Okay, it was actually very good, and displayed what most American movies lack. The ending was just a sign, as he found his mother, going to "walk." Yeah I cried, whatever. There is a subtitled version on Netflix, btw).

and again, that's the problem with the perception of America. They just assume if it does not have explosions in it, we will not like it.

Saw Limitless. It was a pretty good thriller, worth a rental, even if a couple of times you think the guy's an idiot for either doing or not doing something that should be obvious to an idiot.

Also saw The Conspirator. I think James McAvoy is one of the best young actors around, he was very solid once again. I knew the basics of the story, but it was interesting to see a lot of details relating to the Lincoln assassination.

I'd run across my VHS collection and I've been watching a movie or two every night. Last night I started out with Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade. Believe it or not it was the first time that I've seen it. It was good, not as good as The Lost Arc but good. Then I intended on watching Kentucky Fried Movie. I took the tape from the cover and inserted it into the VCR. Thing was, it wasn't KFW, it was Fight Club. I hadn't watched that one in a while, I'd forgotten what a cinematic masterpiece that was. Really good movie.

You should have just told her you'd be happy to see an Argentinian movie that more than 20 people anywhere in the world want to see.
