HORRIBLE BOSSES

Best movie I've seen in quite a while. My wife and I were sitting in the theatre and probably half-way through the movie I said to her, "This is the best money I've spent on a movie in year!" She quickly retorted, "honey, we haven't been to a theatre in a year."

So don't take my word for it; I still love it though.

Agreed...one of the better comedies I've seen in the theater since The Hangover.

Cowboys and Aliens.

Fun. Not the greatest movie in moviedom. IDK if it was a too many cooks thing but you have the Lost producers, Jon Favreu, Spielberg and an great cast ends up with a so so movie.

A minor plus is that the pride of Urbana has a decent part in it.

I'd give it a 3/5
1.5 / 5. Worth nothing more than a redbox rental if that. Some childhood friends were in town otherwise I would've waited until it hit cable reruns.

Daniel Craig managed to top his tremendous bond persona. He is one bad dude

Ford was great as usual, in an unusual role for him.

Thirteen was very poor.

I would possibly bump it up to two stars for trying to recapture the magic of westerns, but it was just such a poorly done pairing

Captain America - I enjoyed it, but someone posted it felt like a 2 hour trailer and I would have to agree somewhat. Thought they did a good job of developing the background story, but really skipped over a bunch of Captain America vs Red Skull, IMO. Anyway, decent action flick.

Sucker Punch - Interesting movie. I enjoyed it, but was a bit confused at first in the beginning as I wasnt quite sure what was reality after the first hammer strike (those who saw it know what I mean). Fun movie over all, though.

Saw 2 with the Blockbuster deal this weekend:

Insidious: Really pretty good, and genuinely creepy in spots, if a tad far-fetched at the end. Plenty of nods to old school movies too. Wan and Whannell got this one right. 3 solid stars out of 4.

The Messenger: Good acting, not much of a plot, and an ending that was basically like they just ran out of film to shoot on. Not bad, but not in the solid 3 category because of the ending.

Saw it last night. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. The initial premise of cowboys and aliens sounds so corny but I thought the movie did a pretty decent job of making it fit. The couple with whom I went and I talked about it after the movie and we questioned why all the alien movies are done with the modern era (1950s onward) as the setting. Why couldn't have aliens come here a century earlier? Sure, there were some corny parts (Craig jumping onto the aliens scout flier from the top of the gourge from his horse) but it probably wasn't much cornier than many of today's action movies (the Mission Impossible series, etc.).

It's a good saturday evening TNT action flick. It's not a $8-9 + snacks flick.

The western start to the movie was pretty solid, especially these days when they are so rare. I don't think sci-fi & westerns mesh. They are very different in their pace, focus, talent vs tech & all around feel.

If Daniel Craig & Harrison Ford weren't in it, you'd believe you were watching a SyFy channel movie.

There, fixed it for you. And I say meh. I agree, not my best use of $8, but since it was at Studio 35, my snack consisted of CBC Summer Teeth Ale, I think that was fine.

'The Adjustment Bureau'...

Much different than I expected (didn't know much about it going in), had elements of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (with less daring ending) and "The Matrix" mixed in with some not so subtle religious overtones, but quite an enjoyable flick from the Redbox...8.5/10

Rise of the Planet of the Apes-Good movie. My only complaint is it follows a pattern of too many movies these days. It takes the time to develop the story and then somewhere in the middle of the movie it's like they say "Oh shit, we have to keep this to two hours" and they rush to the climax. This movie easily could've been an hour longer.
