The Band Camino. Small rock show. The fiancée is a big fan so we did a surprise date night - figured I owed her after 96 hours of watching basketball.
I’ve been to some music events at bars/restaurants but this was a reminder how much I miss true live concerts - even for a small thing. The guys killed it.

Saw Lord Huron at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica last night. Was a beautiful evening, a great venue, and such a fun setlist. Full spectrum of emotions and energy and they sounded really tight.

What happened to my ¤cash?
On my way back to Chicago from Denver. Flew here on Friday to spend the weekend with a friend and go see Streetlight Manifesto.
The show was at the Mission Ballroom. All I can say is that, aside from Park West in Chicago, I’ve never been in a better sounding room… anywhere. It’s a new venue, 2019, and really hasn’t hosted many shows due to being pretty much closed for the C19 thing.
The mix was absolutely perfect. You could clearly make out both saxophones, the trumpet, trombone, bass, drums, guitar and vocals with perfect fidelity. It was incredibly clean. Without question, it was the cleanest sounding punk / ska-punk show I’ve ever seen.
Also of interest, I saw more crowd surfing last night that what I’ve seen in maybe the past 10-years collectively.
Absolutely a great show and was 100% a greatest hits set list. Completely my best birthday present to myself in the 52-spins around the sun I’ve taken.

Feel like it has been the year of the return of the 90's. In September I saw Alanis Morisette with Garbage. Saw Sheryl Crow last week and going to see Barenaked Ladies with Gin Blossoms and Collective Soul this week

Actually, I’m so old that I remember seeing Berners-Lee’s browser on a NeXT box when I was at Booz Allen back in ‘94. I also remember compiling Mosaic from source code on my Sun at the same time.
That was back in the good old days when the Apple Newton was the most interesting handheld device on the market.
So, yeah… I’m old.

Last week I saw Run the Jewells and Rage Against the Machine at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Not my favorite venue but we had a good spot. RTJ was a great opener and brought a ton of energy. Rage was phenomenal. ZDLR has a cast on his foot so was stuck sitting on a monitor the whole show; but you could tell he was ready to burst from his seat. No fancy effects or light/video shows, just raw Rage. Very happy I got to see it.
