Las Vegas Hotel Advice

my wife and I also stayed at The Flamingo... nice place and within walking distance to almost all the other Casinos on the strip. We pretty much walked the strip a few times from Circus Circus down to MGM. If you take a cab anywhere... watch out.... they're fucking crazy. You can also get a limo from the airport to the strip for about $35 (at least you could 5 years ago).

I've stayed at MGM, Madalay Bay, Luxor, NYNY, Excalibur, The Desert Inn (now gone...Wynn's new place is there), and Ballagio. Spent plenty of time at Caeser's, Bally's, Venetian, Paris, Rio, Hard Rock, Treasure Island and a few others.

Out of all of them I liked Mandalay the best. Luxor and Excalibur the worst. Ballagio is the nicest, but by far the most expensive. It really depends on what you are looking for. I thought all around Mandalay was the best. The gambling is good, the sports book is one of the best on the strip, and the pools are second to none. The rooms are also nice and price isn't too bad (mind you I almost always do this on the company tab). The only negative is location. It's on the furthest end of the strip.

Rio and Hard rock are good for younger crowds (early 20's). Yet not on the strip. They are also reasonable as far as price goes.

MGM and NYNY are in the same spot and a little closer to everything than Mandalay. Prices are ok and overall they are pretty good. Although the MGM can be pricey at times (they really vary their rates...even more so than most).

Desert Inn is gone and on the other end of the strip from Mandalay. That part of the strip seems a little different. It was more of a resort than Casino. Of course it is now gone, so who knows. I have heard the new Wynn hotel/casino is really nice and rivals Bellagio.

From what I know about Imperial Palace, it is one of the cheapest on the strip. Yet pretty much a dump. Most people I know who like the place like gambling small minimums and lots of free drinks. That is pretty much what the place is known for.

I have heard Harrah's is one of the best deals also, and a step above Imperial. It does have really nice location.

Caeser's is pretty nice and also great location. More to the expensive side. So is the Venetian. A little older crowd there.

Bally's has a sweet sports book. Yet beer cost you (unlike Mandalay which is almost as good for sports betting and the drinks are free).

Treasure Island...eh. The coolest thing is the free pirate show. Nice place to visit for the show. That's about it.

As far as walking goes, just remember everything seems alot closer than it actually is. It's nice to do once, but after that figure out a destination and take transportation. I've probably done the whole walk about 4 times. After the first couple times it gets really old and tiring. Of course you are allowed to drink in public. So grabbing a few brews and walking the strip with friends can be pretty fun.

I'm sure there is more I could say but I'm getting a bit long winded now.

I stayed at the Imperial Palace, and it is definitely old, but a very good value. You just need a hotel to crash at at 8:00 in the morning. Imperial Palace has a great location. The monorail is definitely worth it, especially if you are drunk.
Honestly, if you are going to be in Vegas Monday thru Thursday, you should stay at the Hard Rock-killer pool, laid back attitude in the casino, tons of hot chicks, and very reasonable rates during the week. Rooms go from $80 a night during the week to $350 a night during the weekend, so plan accordingly-ie stay at the Imperial on the weekend. The Hard Rock is definitely the best place to gamble and party,IMO.

My choices due to budget constraints are Imperial Palace, Barbary Coast, Circus Circus, Stratosphere, Sahara, Tropicana or Orleans. I'm not looking to spend more than an average 70 a night. I'm really just looking for a place to crash after drinking and wandering around. What's my best bet?

Imperial Palace would be your best bet, although Barbary is right next door, I have never been in the Barbary. I would not hesitiate recommending the Imperial.
CircusCircus is absolutely horrible-imagine the clientele of a county fair in South Texas but indoors, w/ smoky carpet and 70's decor/ambience, plus, it is on the far end of the strip.
In your original post, you mentioned you were going Dec 14-18-that is 5 nights. By the 3rd night/4th day you will be absolutely exhausted and sick of everything-I would recommend chopping a night or two off your trip and using the $$$ to party harder for the time you are in Vegas. If you are going w/ your buddies you will be going nuts all night-3 nights is plenty.

I'll tell you two not to do....Circus Circus and Stratosphere. Bad and horrible location respectively. Circus Circus is an eye sore.

As for the others I can't say much about them other than they are all old. From word of mouth I would have to say the Imperial. I know people that like to do Vegas cheap and they swear by the Imperial over the others.

Just out of curiosity, what didn't you like about the Luxor? It's the only place I've stayed, and I thought it was actually pretty nice. The room was big and clean, the casino was decent, and it was close enough to Mandalay, NYNY, and MGM that you always had something to do.

I wasn't too impressed with the Excalibur when I walked thru it, just seemed too cramped and dingy. I know you can get some good deals on rooms though.

We ended up paying $70 at the Luxor when NYNY was around $110 and the Monte Carlo was around $125.

have you been in the Imperial Palace lately? Not sure how anyone would feel comfortable sleeping there, no matter how drunk. And the Palms has definitely taken the crown for best pool and hottest girls hanging around, it is the hottest place in Vegas. If you can get into the club "Rain" in the Palms do it, it is amazing. Hard Rock is good but not in the same league as the Palms. Have fun no matter where you end up staying.

A group of 12 are going out there for a week. We are trying to find a similar suite layout like we've had on previous golf trips where there is 6 beds per suite. Do any of the hotels offer something like this.
So far my search has come up empty. Any insight would be apreciated
