Las Vegas Bowl - BYU 38, Oregon 8 (Dec. 21, 2006)

BYU recovers the onside kick, and BYU adds another 6.

(Anyone else very impressed by Beck? I haven't been watching the entire game or know the whole numbers, but he looks very impressive, imo. I know they're playing Oregon, but he still has been impressive.)

Beck has had all day to throw. Not a good game to judge him by. He did do pretty well against a good Arizona defense though.

No, but it's human nature to base opinions off of what is happening lately. Most people here don't watch much Oregon football, so saying the OC is good when they have score 1 TD tonight will make us think you are crazy. (also when they have lost 5 games this season...)

But, I don't think it's the playcalling. Dennis Dixon and Brady Leaf are painfully bad. The Oregon defense and special teams are more to blame than the offense for the previous 5 losses.

Since most on here don't get to watch Oregon games, take it from me, Crowton is a huge step up from previous OC Andy Ludwig(who is currently running Utah into the ground).

You can't spell we're going down without Oregon.

Man, these guys lost to USC and the just lost the plot. A couple more performances like this and I think the notion of the PAC 10 as the best conference this year will drop from polite conversation.

Beck is as good as Brady Quinn. Sure, BQ threw 5 more TDs in the regular season, but Beck completed 70.4% vs. 63.4%; and had 9.5 ypa vs 7.6 for Quinn. The play where he bought a little time in the pocket, then hit Harline deep down the right sideline, was a thing of beauty. As was the touch he showed on a couple of fade patterns that Harline caught on the left side.

Oregon has talent on offense, but the rotating QB situation last night was a mess.

And they've worn uniforms in the past that have looked worse.

Personally, I think we would've lost the Sun Belt even though we have twice as much talent as any team in that conference. We're mentally weak. No discipline at all. If a guy like Tressel who preaches special teams and discipline coached Oregon we would've won the Pac-10 easy. Something needs to change next year.

Anyway, I think the Pac-10 made huge strides this year. Probably the 3rd best conference behind the SEC and Big-10.
