Uhh, those are two rookies I guarantee you he wouldn't be able to bench.

Hopefully not, but he kept Lebron on the bench for Team USA even though the +- numbers showed that the team was at it's best with Lebron on the floor. Personally I think the Bobcats would be a better destination for him.

Team USA is an entiely different animal than is a regular season NBA squad.

I don't know if Memphis is a good choice since Brown has a history of sitting rookies. I would hate to see Oden or Durant riding the pine next year.

Whether or not he is able to sit the rookies, I would not be happy for Oden or Durant if they had to play for Larry Brown. Though he has shown that he is able to turn teams around, he has shown no patience for developing younger players.

Darko is one example, but Brown's experience with Iverson was also very telling. Development is more than just on the court, and he was not willing to be the mentor that AI needed... I know AI is seen as a difficult player to coach (Practice?!?!?!), but he will also die for his teammates and leaves it all out there everyday. He had that kind of mentor in JTII, but Brown was not willing to help in the same way. Oden and Durant cannot be expected to handle themselves as 10-year veterans, which is who Brown is good at working with, and I think they will suffer for it.

I know its the professional level, but 19 years old is still 19 years old - these young men will need more care than Brown is willing to give.

In that draft, yes I do.

I'm saying that with the number of ping pong balls that Memphis is assigned, they have roughly a 25% chance each of being #1, #2, #3, or #4. The lottery has three balls selected, and then lines up the remaining teams starting at #4.

So assuming Oden and Durant will go 1-2, Memphis only has about a 50-50 chance between getting one of them and getting neither of them. So he's wise to be talking to Memphis at this point, but it's basically even money (rather than a lock), that they'll get one of those guys.

Report: SMU’s Larry Brown up against ‘lack of coach control’ charge

While SMU is expected to once again be a contender in the American Athletic Conference in 2015-16, thanks in large part to the presence of seniors Nic Moore and Markus Kennedy, Larry Brown’s program is also dealing with an NCAA investigation that began last year. With an assistant coach (Ulric Maligi) being placed on indefinite leave before departing the program and Keith Frazier being ruled academically ineligible mid-year, this is a situation that could be a major problem for the Mustangs moving forward.

And according to a report from Yahoo Sports, Brown is up against a charge of “lack of coach control” in relation to this investigation, with SMU officials meeting with the NCAA Committee on Infractions last month. One of the players who was ruled academically ineligible was guard Keith Frazier, and his situation is what is of particular interest to the NCAA per the report.

At particular issue is the role of former SMU assistant coach Ulric Maligi and a basketball secretary in allegedly assisting Frazier with coursework. Maligi took an indefinite leave from the program in January 2015. Frazier played for the Mustangs during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons before he was deemed “academically ineligible” in January 2015 and missed the rest of the season. There has been no clarification yet as to his status for the 2015-16 season, but Frazier has not left the program.

At issue with Brown is what he knew about Frazier’s situation, and what he did about it.
