If I may hazard a guess, it appears to be a Palladin Self-Propelled Artillery Gun.

Its protection and armament (and most things) are quite different than a battle tank.

This is basically an artillery peice that is self contained.

Correct. 155mm shells. Nothing at all like a tank. Can't fire a round while in motion, and the armament is no where near a tank's armor. Worked with the 105mm towed pieces as well.
