Robert Wadlow was 8'4" in HS, and was 8'11" and 485 lbs. when he died at 22 years old in 1940. Don't know if he ever played Ball in HS.

I remember that game. He made Kofous - a legit 7 footer, look short. Without looking anything up I believe he had a foot problem that ended his basketball career.
