RENEE SAUER dispatch
Colgate's Katie Garman reaches in and fouls Ohio State's Sarah Schulze, who had stolen the ball moments earlier.

The opening games of the Buckeye Classic yesterday in St. John Arena didn't include any man-bites-dog news snippets for either the Ohio State or Auburn women's basketball teams.

Auburn built a 15-point lead in the first half and steadfastly refused to let Ohio State draw closer than eight the rest of the way, despite a 22-point, 17-rebound performance from Buckeyes freshman center Jantel Lavender.
