Kudos to Chad Cacchio and Greg Bellisari

Keep the degrees coming.

Former Buckeye Football Players Earn Medical Degrees at Spring Commencement

Cacchio receives DDS, Greg Bellisari MD

June 22, 2005

COLUMBUS, Ohio - In addition to the 96 undergraduate degrees earned by current and former Ohio State student-athletes at Spring Commencement ceremonies June 12, former Buckeye football players Chad Cacchio and Greg Bellisari earned medical degrees.

Cacchio, who was a wide receiver for the Buckeyes from 1998-00, earned a DDS from the dental school. Bellisari, a four-year letterwinner from 1993-96, earned an MD.

Cacchio joined a private practice with Mark Miller in Westerville, Ohio, while also doing a part-time fellowship at the Ohio State implant clinic State with Dr. Edwin J. McGlumphy.

Cacchio, a finance major as an undergraduate and a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, had advice for incoming student-athletes at Ohio State.

"The advice I would give someone is you really need to stay focused. You have to do everything one step at a time. Start off and really have an idea of what your long term goals are. You need to figure out any small steps you have to take along the way to reach that long term goal."

I work at the hospital and we had Greg as a med. student about a year ago. He was a pretty nice guy. He just seemed very focused and very smart. And he wasn't really into football talk. Maybe because thats what he gets everywhere he goes.

Great news for those 2 guys. It's surprising that the article didn't come out until 10 days later, seems they didn't go looking for the publicity.

Nice read.

As an old timer I also have to say that the advice given is dead on for any young person just starting a career.

You have to do everything one step at a time. Start off and really have an idea of what your long term goals are. You need to figure out any small steps you have to take along the way to reach that long term goal.
