Kudla - A Breakout Year?

Carmen Ohio

All-American
I was among those predicting a great year for Mike Kudla and the guy has come through with flying colors. I expect him to be the unsung hero tomorrow. So far Kudla has 6.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for a loss. That's one sack better than Will Smith's junior year, including the NC game. He'd have to be lights out to catch Smith's 10.5 sacks and 20 tackles for a loss in 2003, but Kudla is set up to be a very high draft pick.

Kudla is one of the reasons why our LB's can roam free to make big plays... stats don't show that but it's something that scouts notice.... after all that he has been through you gotta love the fact that he's gonna have a great chance to play on Sunday's.

MK's character in adversity sets him apart. Many of us might have quit in the same circumstances. This man's spirit and determination continues to grow. Whatever he chooses to do in life, my guess is: he'll succeed. His physical strength is really in second place to his mental strengths.

What a Buckeye!

Great post! MIke can teach me a few things when it comes to dealing with adversities! As to how fast he is? Ask Larence Marony (spelling).

You've got to imagine with the kind of stats hes going to to put up at the combine/pro day, he should be a first round pick imo.

Let's not get carried away. The first round is usually reserved for guys who have torn up the college football world for several years. Kudla has the potential to draw an NFL pension, but I think he has benefitted from great LB play this year. I'm not taking anything away from Mike, because I feel that his motor never stops, and that he never gives up on a play........but I think it's a stretch to call him a first rounder.

He will probably go on the first day though. Keep in mind that I am just stating my opinion, I'd love to see Mike go in round 1. Him along with Holmes, Hawk, and Carpenter.

i agree. as much as i'd love to see kudla go in the first round, i don't think it will happen. he's a great player and will be a very solid nfl player, though. there's no question about that. going in the first day is definitely doable. kudla (or kooldla, according to andre ware) is a beast. kudla will be in henne's backfield so often tomorrow that kudla will end up breaking the michigan's huddle.

henne: "team and... uhh... kudla, we're going to run 121 roll at 8 z out on 2, on 2 annnnnd... break."
