Thump

Hating the environment since 1994
  • Anyone else notice that the discount with these cards has almost vanished?

I know the main reason for the cards is for them to track your shopping habits but I remember you used to be able to get a 12 pack of Mt. Dew for about $2.00 but now you can't get them for less than $3.99.

The discounts on other items is only about 10 cents or so.

I know gas costs have gone up but come on.

I prefer to shop at Meijer pretty much anymore.

I noticed it a while back but haven't complain to much because I figured that's life. I remember a couple months ago I was able to get a chili cheese burrito for $.99 now it a $1.19......Inflation is a bitch.

I still got a big bear card (they all shut down, at least in columbus). My card still works at all of the other places that use them like kroger. Some times the cashiers get tick'd off when they want me to sign up for a kroger card and i just tell them to swipe that one...

Big Bear actually saved you money with the card. Ever since Kroger went to this "Plus Card" bull shit they're prices have went up. Giant Eagle is cheap at times and they are def. better than kroger. Atleast at G/E you spend $50 you get $ .10 off a gallon of gas. I love the commercials for Kroger and they're gas, "Spend $500 this week and you get $.2 off your next gallon of gas!" and "If you spend $750 this week you get $.5 off your next gallon!"

So we only really shop at Giant Eagle since they seem to be the cheapest, although it was a sad day when Big Bear went out.

I gotta go with TG05 on this one... at least in regard to Big Bear... I HATE fucking Kroger...

Yeah...it is the "Price you should be Paying"... well sort of anyway.

Since I don't go to Kroger... because I Hate it... The Giant Eagle Card scam is simple... they rotate the same fukcing shit about every 4 weeks... (Seasonal items aside, like Apples in the fall or Asparagus in the spring, which should be on sale anyway) and then charge more for the other crap that they project as being on the average consumers weekly shopping list... so you can get some cheap Chunky soup, but they fuck you on Pork Chops.... so they get teh saem out of you about every trip with smoke and mirrors.

Giant eagle is a good example of how they think in that Meat is nearly never on special (when it is, its marked from exhorbitant to just overpriced)... how in the fuck do they think I'm going to pay 12.99 a pound o(n sale) for say NY Strip there when I can get it for 8.99 a pound anytime I want at my butcher, and 5.99 a pound when its on sale...

Well the answer is, most people are too fucking lazy to go to more than one store, and I'm fortunate that both are convenient to me... but it still pisses me off.

    Anyway... enough on Grocery stores...

    What's Wolverine meat cost?

Speaking of wolverines, one of my teachers came in this week. He had a Buckeye Necklace, but at the bottom he had a piece of bone hanging. A girl was like "Whats that?". He said "Its a shoulder blade bone from a wolverine." She had no idea what he was talking about. She then asked what a wolverine was. He went on to say, well theres two kinds and they are both ugly, sneaky bastards, but this one is basically a...umm. And I was like its basically a rat. And he was like "yep thats what they basically are.....but the same thing can be said for their fans too!"

The Dispatch ran an article before Big Bear went out of business comparing prices on a fairly robust shopping cart full of groceres between BB, Krogers, WalMart and Meijers. The savings at WalMart and Meijers was substantial. Like 20% or so - and that was across the board on a wide variety of items.

I sign up for a new Plus Card everytime I go in, and I use fake demographics. I figure so long as they're gonna make me jump through hoops to get the appropriate price for something, I may as well do what I can to skew their data. Fuckers.

Just ask the cashier to use the store card. They always have one handy.

The prices at the Super Walmart where I lived last were not as good as at the grocery stories, but I went there anyway. I have a tendancy to do a little impulse buying - nothing huge, but going to one store rather than two saved money in the long run. Time, too... one less line to stand in.

I try to avoid Wal-Mart as much as possible. First of all, they contribute BIGTIME to the outsourcing of American jobs. Second of all, is I don't care to be among their clientele. I was in there a few weeks ago trying to send a MoneyGram, and some stupid bitch in front of me returned four suitcases. The clerk scanned them and totalled her out, and the dumb broad said, "Wait, there's stuff in those suitcases, too." There were three suitcases full of socks, watches, shoes, and cleaning supplies. The fourth one was completely full of Halloween candy. Who in the fuck tries to return Halloween candy! Are these the same people who try to put meat on layaway?!
