The SchoolSports Rivalry Tour presented by Old Spice rolled into California and Illinois this past weekend. In California, De La Salle (Concord) had high hopes of upsetting Mission Viejo, the No. 1 ranked team in the SchoolSports.com National Top 25. And for three quarters, the Spartans looked like they were on their way. But Mission Viejo rallied from a 26-22 fourth-quarter deficit with 14 unanswered points to win, 36-26, and retain its top spot in the national rankings.

De La Salle sophomore quarterback Mike MacGillivray spearheaded the Spartans’ late lead with a 10-yard touchdown pass to senior Vince Colvis and a 1-yard touchdown run.

But with the Spartans leading 23-16 in the third quarter, Mission Viejo senior cornerback Marcus North picked off a MacGillivray pass and returned it 46 yards for a score to cut the lead to 23-22 (Mission Viejo failed on the extra point attempt). De La Salle responded with a 27-yard field goal from Colvis to make it 26-22, but junior Keegan Gogerty and senior Chane Moline each ran for touchdowns in the fourth quarter to give Mission Viejo the win.

Moline, who’s rated the nation’s No. 94 overall recruit in the Class of 2006 by SchoolSports.com, ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries.

MISSION VIEJO – Welcome to the Toman Empire.

Mission Viejo senior quarterback R. J. Toman and the Diablos continued their brutish ways Friday night at Mission Viejo High, seizing a 40-8 South Coast League victory over Dana Hills.

Mission improved to 6-0; Dana Hills fell to 4-2.

It was the first South Coast League game for both teams.

Toman, who had the unenviable task of replacing everyone's All-American, quarterback Mark Sanchez (USC), this season threw for three touchdowns and ran for one more as Mission extended its winning streak to 42 in a row against teams from Orange County.

After a 68-yard return by Garrett Rubio on the opening kickoff, Toman ran 30 yards on the first play from scrimmage for a touchdown.

Toman (12 of 16 for 144 yards) connected on passes of 30, 7 and 12 yards for three touchdowns in the first half, and the Diablos entered halftime with a 34-0 lead.

His favorite target, senior receiver Sean Fitzgerald, had four catches for 76 yards, including touchdown receptions of 30 and 12 yards.

Senior running back Chane Moline (14 rushes for 88 yards) scored on touchdown runs of 2 and 4 yards.

Dana Hills quarterback Grant Schwartz (8 of 13 for 70 yards) left the game with about three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed injury. He was replaced by junior Clayton Colaw, who played the remainder of the game. Colaw passed for 100 yards on 12 of 18 passing.

The Dolphins' lone touchdown came with 3:44 left in the game on Matthew Garcia's 1-yard run.

From Rivals.com...Konrad is focusing on Notre Dame, USC and UCLA. He is also like Stanford, Miami and Nebraska. UCLA and ND are recruiting him the hardest. No mention of OSU.

Looks like we are out of this race...he seems to really be favoring ND and UCLA.

no biggy, I think Cumberland has huge upside---if only we would get those grades up! Cumberland reminds me of the impact TEs Georgia always seems to have...

great post... and a good point. with Ballard and Chichester in the mix and Cumberland a (remote) possibility, we are doing well in the "big speed" category so far this year. Rumors are circulating that USC has cooled on Reuland because of some other prospects out West, so this might be the worst news. I would love to have Konrad, but if we can get Cumberland instead, that would be fine with me.

From Rivals.com...Konrad will officially visit ND for the Navy game on 11/12. He unofficially visited UCLA this past weekend and lists them in his top 3 along with ND and USC (all offered).

Time to close this thread for the time being...it looks like he is no longer considering OSU.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Notre Dame reserve tight end Konrad Reuland has decided to leave school.

"After meeting with Konrad Reuland on Sunday, he has decided he will leave the team and withdraw from Notre Dame," coach Charlie Weis said. "I appreciate all Konrad has done for Notre Dame and I wish him nothing but the best."

Trying to find out where he is headed...SDSU w/ Ryan Williams would not shock me.

Reuland's father is pointing to UCLA - which falls of the ND schedule post this season .. when Reuland cannot play a down for them.

Konrad Reuland, the former All-America tight end from Mission Viejo High, has been granted a release from his scholarship at Notre Dame and will transfer to another school.
....
Ralf Reuland, his father, said that UCLA is a possible destination for the 6-foot-6 tight end and that he is hoping to have reached a decision on his transfer by the weekend. ''We want to do something fairly quickly to get into school,'' he said. ''You don't want to be out of school.''
Under Coach Charlie Weis Notre Dame has not released transfers to schools that appear on its schedule during the balance of the player's career, but a home-and-home series with UCLA ends this season.
