Players, UA, KSU, economy benefit, thanks to LeBron

By Terry Pluto

The reason Akron will be the capital of amateur basketball this weekend is LeBron James.
Not that James will be around for the King James Classic, which this year will bring 465 teams of kids ages 17 or younger to town. Along with their parents. And many big-name college coaches also will come, to scout the 70 or so of the nation's top 100 young players expected to play.
While James is with the Cavaliers this weekend in Washington for the playoffs, his former high school coach, Dru Joyce II, is running this tournament that will be worth an estimated $5 million to the economies of Summit, Portage and Stark counties, according to tournament officials.
