Danica has one career win in a series that is currently a wasteland of top drivers.

Gotcha. I honestly didn't know, that was my guess as to why she is such a big deal. Armed with this new info..............BFD about Danica for no good reason IMHO.

Don't get me wrong Danica really is a talented driver but most of the media attention on her is because she's 1. a woman & 2. (most importantly) a cute woman.

Still she's a long way off from touching Shirley Muldowney who was a legitimate badass as a driver. Shirley won her championships while driving underfunded cars & with little outside support.

Don Garlits (who is as straight a talker as they come) has stated flat out that she was the best driver he ever raced against.

Shirley Muldowny wasn't just one of the greatest women drag racers she was one of the greatest drag racers of all time, period.

Whether it's a sport or not is debatable I guess but they aren't athletes. Crowbar Charlie Weis into a Dodge Viper and have him race against Danica in a Ford Focus and the fat man will be eating the checkered flag.

In an equal car I'm guessing the fact she's smaller is an advantage, as slight as it may be, so being a woman may be to her benefit. And yes, I'd throw Danica a bang.
