Kicking Tee Shrinking for 2006

WRONG!

Huston DOES NOT use this tee...He uses the black tee! The sidewinder (red one below) was the most accepted tee back in the 90's then people starting turning it upside down (which worked better IMO) but when the NFL change their rules years ago the black one became the standard in the NFL and found it's way to college. HUSTION used the BLACK ONE!

HAYN

Two-Inch Tee would be something like this, which is the one most kickers in HS and college like using. Including Nugent and Huston.

Now this is one of the more "standard" ones you'll see. This is your "generic" orange tee.

The One-Inch tee would just be a inch shorter. Giving the ball less "raise" off the ground on kickoffs.

hey HAYN how come in the NFL and NCAA no one uses a kicking block for PAT's. High schools use them why not the pro's?

NFL hasn't had em for a long time. NCAA did away with kicking tees in the early 90's I think (been too long I can't remember) to be on par with the pros (makes sense). I think HS should GET RID of kicking tees too! JMO. Kick off the ground like everyone else. When we train kids that are JRs and SRs, especially, we don't allow them to use Tees! You're not gonna need em at the next level so; TAKE THE PACIFIER OUT OF YOUR MOUTH AND KICK OFF THE GROUND! The sooner you are "WEANED" off the kicking tee the better you'll be! Not to mention you'll open some eyes if you're really good as HS kicker that doesn't "breast feed" anymore!

I've gone back and forth on the effect of the lower tee on college football.
But, we should be very excited about the prospect of TGII back there.
I predicted he would break the KR record for TDs before he's done.
I think now, that's a certainty.

Man, this is going to be exciting!

I don't know how much this rule change has been discussed, but this could make the kicking game emphasis by JT even a greater weapon!

Rules changes for 2006 would shorten games

The NCAA Rules Committee, along with input from the AFCA, has proposed some rules changes for the 2006 season that are designed to shorten the length of games. The reasoning cited is that many games are pushing 3.5 hours and games featuring two passing teams are often lasting over 4 hours.
The rules changes expected to pass include lowering the kicking tee for kickoffs from two inches down to one inch to decrease touchbacks, starting the clock when the ball is kicked rather than when a member of the receiving team takes possesion, and starting the clock after changes of possession as soon as the ball is spotted instead of when the ball is snapped.
