"I kept waiting for a scholarship to open up. They wanted me to keep stick with them and waiting it out. I told them I would. There were a few times I didn't know wanted to look at other places, but they promised me I would have a scholarship if I would wait,"

what did he say!?!? did anybody else have to read this blurb a few times to understand what was being said. i dont know if it was the writer or Pettry but that is a mess.

Typical Tresselball. We're in trouble again on special teams. No one returned a kick all the way from more than 80 yards. No one kicked a field goal from 75 yards plus. Oh, woe is us...

Man, this team is sounding scary good all around. :groove: :osu:

I think we found our kickoff man in Pettrey. Tress says he smoked one 10 yards outta the back of the end zone with the new NCAA mandated "lower tees" to make it harder to kick them outta the end zone.

I thought that this Bucknuts blurb gave some interesting insight into Ginn's partner on returns this year:
Hazell said that Anthony Gonzalez and Malcolm Jenkins have also been working on punt returns. OSU will probably utilize its diamond alignment again on kick returns with Ginn as the deep man.
“We think we will get a lot of pooch kicks and crazy kicks because of the success we’ve had,” he said. “We will probably have to flank him like we did at times last year.”

I thought Jenkins looked good on his one return last year against Miami I believe, even know he fumbled it, he got into the hole and then made a couple cuts until he was brought down.

I wouldnt mind seeing a guy like Haw back there either.

:) Love the fact that our special teams looks so good. Now if you really want to have fun read the Mlive article (I think you can google Ann Arbor News Sports?) about the Michigan "spring game" last weekend. More like a controlled scrimmage. Anyway, it was pretty dull, and then Henne took them down the field and the drive stalled and then Garret Rivas came in and shanked a 25-yarder. Great! You know he's going to choke in the Shoe in November!

I don't remember the details exactly, except the part about Rivas blowing an easy FG.

This should be THE YEAR. Go Bucks!

Are you implying that you think he'll come in to attempt a game-winning field goal and he'll miss it? I think that the only way that that will happen is if that field goal were magically worth 20 or more points, because Ohio State will win by that much.

$315,000 = $5 * 63,000 people (not to mention concessions)

truly amazing for a spring game

I believe pettrey grayshirted in 04, then redshirted in 05... and got a scholarship either in 05 or for the upcoming season. That took a lot of courage, considering that pretorious was on scholarship, and at the time Skeete would also have been ahead of him on the depth chart.
