Class: 2024 (high school)
Position: Defensive line
School: Chicago (IL) St. Ignatius
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 310 lbs

Has prototypical size and athletic ability for the position. Bends well, gets off the ball quickly and can beat blockers with initial quickness. Closes to the ball with speed as well. For a taller interior defensive lineman, he generally does a good job with pad level and his flexibility helps with that. Not often challenged in high school with offensive linemen with similar size and talent. Will have to show he can disengage from Power Five level offensive linemen. Has great upside though and actually could play high-level offensive line if he wanted to also, but projects as a defensive tackle that can play for any school and in any scheme in the country.

SCOTT ALSO VISITING THIS WEEKEND
McClellan won’t be the only key visitor on campus this week. Five-star Illinois defensive tackle Justin Scott was supposed to be at Ohio State for last weekend’s game against Wisconsin, but he and his family will instead be making the trip to Columbus this weekend for Saturday’s game against Rutgers, he confirmed to 247Sports.

Scott is the No. 31 overall prospect and fourth-ranked defensive lineman in the 2024 class per 247Sports’ composite rankings. A two-way player at St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago who could also play on either side of the line at the next level, Scott was offered by OSU on Sept. 5.

FIVE-STAR DEFENSIVE TACKLE JUSTIN SCOTT PUTS OHIO STATE IN HIS TOP EIGHT

“Just the relationship with (special teams coordinator Parker) Fleming and (defensive line) coach (Larry) Johnson and also, coach (Ryan) Day and just being able to be coached by one of the best defensive line coaches to ever coach in college football (in) coach Larry Johnson,” Scott told On3 about his relationship with Ohio State. “Just to be able to be developed how they did with Chase Young and all their d-linemen (stands out).”

Think he's wide open, but major target for this class. With the DTs we got in the last class, we could probably just take Scott and call it good at DT. Ideally we probably get two, but I almost wouldn't care on the other one if we landed Scott.

From Ohio State’s perspective, a postponement can only be a positive sign, considering Scott was trending toward Notre Dame ahead of his expected commitment Tuesday.

Probably only a positive to maybe give us a little more time to make a pitch, but seems like a longshot currently. But with the '23 class (Smith Jr, McDonald and Moore, or a combination of that depending on development) and Kanu in the class before, I feel positive about that position group. You always take a stud DT like Scott if you can get them, but I won't be sweating it. Plus we seem to be in on a lot of DT's this class.
