I just got summoned for Federal Jury Duty, I was supposed to report this coming Monday, but got an email last night that its been rescheduled for July 13 - curious to see what happens

Interesting! I've never been summoned for federal jury duty, although I clerked for a federal magistrate judge for a year after law school. I'm regularly summoned for state jury duty, but I've only been selected once and that case got dismissed after facts came out that made the plaintiff legally unable to win (in Colorado you're not liable if someone slips on the sidewalk in front of your place, even though you're supposed to shovel it if it snows, because it's public right of way, but you are if they slip on your driveway, and the plaintiff testified that he slipped on the sidewalk). I was once next in line to be questioned further for jury selection when the last alternate was selected from a pool of over 100 people for a case in which one neo-nazi type stabbed another neo-nazi type to death, allegedly in self-defense. That would surely have been interesting.

I was summoned to fed duty a couple of years ago. Had to call in each evening to see if there was anything on the docket for the next day. Two weeks I believe was the duty to call. Nothing was ever docketed, so I guess it will be years before I might be called again.

Never was called for jury duty while living in Ohio. Since moving to Broward County, Florida, I have been summoned 4 times in 20 years. Of the 4, only once was I pooled and sat for selection. Did not get seated and glad because the case called for sequestering the jury and the trial was to start in late November. The case lasted 2 1/2 weeks as I recall.

Years ago when I was called in I was sitting in the jury selection and the defendant, who was already in prison and the most evil and ugliest fuck I'd ever seen in my life, kept turning around and glaring at the potential jurors as they was asked various questions. Didn't get selected but I'm sure he got the chair.
