Eleven years ago this very night .. "The Waiting is Over! The New York Rangers are the Stanley Cup Champions!!"

54 years in the making, and not a day too soon .. maybe my grandkids can enjoy the next Cup win.

Sloop is a Celtics fan? There may be hope for him yet.

As for 1994, I was rooting for the Canucks. I miss the days of going to see the Penguins kick the Rangers asses, all the while chanting "1940! (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap), 1940!..."

I just realized how little I miss hockey.
I know I sure miss the Blue Jackets games. Although they are nothing like a home football game or even a basketball game for that matter, it was a great way to get people downtown to our arena district. I know the bars and restaurants are hurting badly too...just the other day I ate at Gordon Biersch on a Friday evening and a manager was walking around and asked what brought me to their area this evening with a somewhat confused look because there was very few people there that evening. I remember those days when there was a fun, bustling crowd around and can't wait to get things resolved.

BB73: "Since Sloop is a Celtics fan and a Yankees fan, wouldn't you think he'd be a Montreal fan for the NHL?"

Nope. Lifelong Ranger fan. I'm a Bears fan in football, although I'm ashamed to admit that.

Misanthrope: "I miss the days of going to see the Penguins kick the Rangers asses, all the while chanting "1940! (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap), 1940!..."

The best part about winning the Cup was NEVER having to hear, "1940" ever again ..

BN27: "its about time you made a worthy post sloopy."

Thanks. I'm still waiting for your first one.

AKAK: "They officially announce the beginning of the end of the House that Ruth built today, and Sloops is babbling hockey?"

The New Stadium plans went into effect sometime last summer. Yesterday was just the 'official' announcement. Its not really new news to me.

And, as much as I love Yankee Stadium, a new ballpark is inevitable. So there's no reason to shed tears over it.

Bucknut319: "Does anyone remember that 80's hockey movie w/ Rob Lowe? All I remember is the scene of his girlfriends ass...Man, that must have kept the spank bank full through my high school days..."

The movie was Youngblood. Swayze was his winger, and Keanu Reeves has an early cameo as the Goalie. Not a bad flick.
