IMHO - Watters is a bit too much of a prima donna homo and not enough impact player to get into the HOF without insanely superb stats like Bettis (who too in my opinion is a massive fag). The "BUS" is the only running back in the NFL who feels like he has to do a dance, shimmy or shuffle every time he gains 3 yards or more which is INSANELY annoying...though he'll surely get into the hall.

George is a character guy who makes for a wonderful representation of the NFL. The HOF likes guys like Eddie naturally and the way he ran for the first 8 or so years of his career should get him in. If Houston/Tennessee had a third of a brain and would have given Eddie a fullback to run behind, he would have lasted and been highly productive for a LOT longer.

So bascially what your saying is that the attitude Watters and Bettis displayed gave them almost an extra 1/2 yards or so average per carry. Sorry but a half a yard carry extra over a career makes Watters more of an impact player!

You sure seem to like talking about homo's......

In my honest opinion:

Jerome Bettis - HOF'er
Eddie George - HOF'er
Ricky Watters - Not a HOF'er

I gotta be honest when I say that Bettis is the only one that will get in IMO.

George needed 2 more good seasons.. and Watters is going to get labeled as a system player.

The other factor is that there are a lot of guys who recently- including this season- have retired are much more qualified... so if George or Watters get in... I think its not first ballot for either.

Yes, I love talking about homo's. You're very cognizant.

As for the extra half yard per carry...a lot of that could come from the fullback situation. Some of it from talent and vision of course, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Hall Of Fame committee doesn't look at YPC as much as you might think. Being familiar with every player for certain, I would guess that they hear a name, look at the big picture and there you have it. I'm willing to bet that they don't look at Watters YPC & then Eddie's and say...oh yeah, we have to have Watters in here. If YPC gets you in, then I suppose San Diego's Jesse Chatman is almost guaranteed a spot afterall considering he average 6 a carry last season.

CHIEF, it's obvious that Jerome is getting in, but don't be too much of a homer with Watters. Honestly, the guy has no legend. Which reminds me of another point...

Of course performance is first when it comes to getting into the HOF. BUT, if you're going to take on a borderline argument between two players, I'd rest assured that every single time the nod will go to the character guy who has a legend. What did the fans think of this player you know? How was he received by his peers, the league, did they chant his first name religiously at home games? Things like this make for great small pushes.

All that being said, I don't think Eddie will be a first ballot either.

Agreed. I think Eddie gets in on a late vote though. Too much of a warrior and a solid representative for the league.

It would be a heck of a lot easier to call if he had, "and led the Titans to a Superbowl Title" on his resume.

There's just going to be some STUDS on the ballot around the same time.... Starting Next year... Reggie White is going to be eligible... Troy Aikman, Warren Moon, Deion, Thurman Thomas... Emmit Smith just retired, Jerry Rice, Cris Carter is outstanding.... So then if he gets pushed back a couple years... its going to get more Crowded... Favre isn't going to play forever... and I've only mentioned 2 Defenders and no OL's on this list... Bruce Matthews? Got to be more guys than that.

2,000 more yards is more important than character as the NFL is about numbers!

Besides the only thing Watters did was complain he wasn't getting the ball. And as far as a system player ?? How?? Watter's shared the carries with a fullback something Eddie did not do! BTW I think Watters has a ring.

I said "Labeled" a system player.

Its sort of like Warren Moon throwing for more yards than Elway....

Dude... Watters was a good back... not great.... let it go... he might get in... but he'll need to wait in line.
