Joe Pa: "Black athlete has made a big difference"

You've got to be careful how you say things because (Air Force coach) Fisher DeBerry got in trouble," the 78-year-old Paterno said on the Big Ten teleconference Tuesday, "but the black athlete has made a big difference. They've changed the whole tempo of the game.
"The black athlete has done a great job as athletes and people of turning the game around. Say what you want to say about it, but it's a different game because of them."

Perhaps the questions was Joe, in your years as a college football coach you have seen many changes in the game. How would you say that the Black Athlete has changed the game?

Thats would make sense I mean what should he say? Ummm nothing has changed over the years?

The question was probably something like:

"Joe, Fisher DeBerry has said that he needs more black athletes. What do you think about the role of black college football players?"

What Joe wanted to say:

"Are you such a low-life media piece of garbage that you're trying to trap me into saying something controversial on that topic; just so you can sell some newspapers and make a name for yourself? All while I'm having my first good season in years? Get the hell out of my press conference, and don't ever come back, you piece of crap!"

But, alas, he can't say what he'd like to say.
