Did someone say something about a Buffet? I'm hungry...

Well... There's an interesting comparison, I guess.

As a casual fan of both Cash and Buffett (Please note... Casual, so I'm not going to delve deeply into this) I would argue that the main difference in message between... say... Margaritaville and Folsom Prison Blues is more or less the difference in shirt color of the singer... You're stuck in one place or another... One's just a dark prison and the other is a never ending bender... the imagery of the songs change the moods, but the content isn't especially different one way or the other.

Anyway... I'm not going to defend the artistic merit of Cheeseburger in Paradise... but the point is that Buffett is country dressed up with Carribean flavor, that "flavor" is the real difference in commercial appeal between Buffett and your run of the mill country artist who doesn't write their own songs.

I went to a Buffett concert many years ago because my wife (then girlfriend) wanted to go. It was one of the boring concerts I've ever been to. I have a friend that is driving all over Florida to see him at three different shows... I just don't get it.

There are all kinds of people at JB shows...at least at noon... I evidently have been to 3.

Evidently LoKy just wasn't trying hard enough to "enjoy" the experience.... as far as the actual concert.. I remember a Volcano and a chick in a ditch.

Sir, you're being charged with over use of a word. You said "evidently" 2 times in 4 words (actually 3 words and a number). The glasses aint helping, junior. Let's see some ID.

I tried to enjoy it as much as I could... the music got in the way of the drinking. The concert we went to was the summer after I graduated high school... there's nothing funnier than running into your HS principal and both of you are drunk . What's even funnier is that he was a friend of my dads (who was a Superintendent of another school system at the time) and he never told him :)

J Buffett has definitely found his niche. My question is, if you have to get drunk to enjoy the concert, is it the music you are enjoying or being drunk with friends? His music is definitely associated with "party" and the Caribbean feel definitely is the reason - but does the music stand on its own? Not really.
I guess I don't understand why people have to get drunk before noon for a football game either - but that's just me.
I think it's great that a lot of people can get together and have fun and JB certainly fills the bill there.

I have to disagree vehemently. I could listen to constant Buffett whether I'm drunk, stone-cold sober, at work, at home, driving, playing sports, or just about anything. Hell, I'm in my mid-20s and just about everyone my age in this area is a Buffett fan on some level.

I could never really understand the fascination with him either. I do not hate his music, I just don't understand how it can affect people the way it does. I actually saw two seemingly normal people when sober have sex under a blanket at a show with about 500 people standing in a circle around them cheering them on.

The mentallity of a Buffet show kind of reminds me of Papa Joe's when I was in College, there were always lots of hot chicks there, but every fucking night they would play "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" or some other bullshit "classic like (Mony Mony") and these hot chicks would sing and dance like morons. To see people go ape shit just so they can scream "hey, Get Laid Get Fucked" would make my manhood want to crawl up inside my body. God I hated that fucking place.
