Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

I like how JT corrected the misstatement about Gee being the Athletic director and her mispronouncing Matta. He pronounced Matta's name correctly and didn't embarrass her regarding Gee's status. In fact, he waited to mention Gee at all until the next question, where he worked in Gene Smith's name and Gee's name, while identifying their positions at the school.

Well done.

Seriously.. that's a public speaking pro right there.

Absolutely. I noticed that as well. Also forgot to mention how awesome it was that he compared his wearing the vest on gameday to the players bringing their helmets to play. It's like his body armor...funny guy.

Don't wanna be a doomsday, but when JT leaves, no matter who replaces him, we will all miss him more than we think we will. He's one of those guys.

Agreed. That was masterful.

Never says a damn thing yet I can not help but to be amazed and enamored every time I hear him speak. Even if it is just in the sporting world I am proud to have Jim Tressel represent our state as one of its most recognizable residents. He serves Ohio State and our state very well.

I share that pride, but certainly not because JT "Never says a damn thing." Tressel's messages are just so basic, and he emphasizes them again and again with repetition and a masterful exactness of language, so that in this era of quick sound-bytes and outlandish claims his simplicity and genuineness aren't the kind of talk we're used to hearing from famous men. I disagree every time someone says JT doesn't ever say anything: he always says the right things.

Q: Do you think you'll be coaching into your eighties?

A: "No." Classic.

"No"

Come on Tress', you're a healthy guy. Ninety isn't an unreasonable retirement age nowadays. What with the precarious social security situation and all and shaky economy, you might need to go 95 before you have a big enough nest egg:biggrin::osu:
