Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

I think Tressel definitely has a say in what happens with the uniforms, but he's also practical. From what the O-Zone post says, the changes likely won't be anything more substantial than the pants changes that OSU made for 2005.

I mean, what was mentioned? Stripe changes, piping, DRI-FIT and moving the shoulder numbers down the sleeve.

Stripes are the one thing that have been messed with throughout the years as the team switches manufacturers. DRI-FIT is pretty much a functional change, a la the pants switch last year or the Revolution helmets. Moving numbers to the sleeve would be a major change, but unlikely according to the poster. Only thing to worry about would be the piping, which hopefully is not adopted.

Stripes are the one thing that have been messed with throughout the years as the team switches manufacturers.

Aside from the thinner stripes in the late '70s and early/mid '80s, the stripes have been the same (Grenn Bay Packer, Pittsburgh Steeler style stripes) since 1968. I doubt the change to and from the thinner stripes had anything to do with the manufacturer but rather simply a then-desired change in design. So when they mention a change in stripes, coupled with the moving of shoulder numbers and the addition of piping, I get a not-so-appealing vision of what the supposed change will look like.

the dry fit sounds good... i know if rugby it elimantes shirt tackles. Dry fit uni's would only benefit troy and teddy.. not to mention teddy's SI cover shot last year wouldn't be as easy.

mili, the stripes on the shoulder used to match the helmet stripes. Not a huge change, but it did make a significant difference in the look of the jersey.

I think JT and Gene Smith would fight to keep our uniforms the same, but I'm not going to guarantee that they would not change simply b/c JT is a traditional, politically-powerful coach.

I hate to think about it, but newer jerseys would probably have meant one or two TDs more for Teddy, and a handful of additional escapes from the pocket by Troy. Our older material is easier to grab.

Hopefully they can work on a "new" design that looks an awful lot like the old ones. The new michigan jerseys looked horrendous in the studio photos, but actually did not look that bad at all in person.

At one point he mentions they could have piping "similar to Michigan." That's all I needed to hear.

Maybe I'm being pessimistic, but I can't see this being a popular change.

Will most definately not be a popular thing...not with me for damn sure. Why does Nike have any right to meddle with a tradition rich school's uniform. Butchering Oregon is one thing, the Ohio State's, M_ch_g_n's of the world is a whole different animal. Fuck Nike.
