Another one of Ohio State’s rushmen is heading to the NFL.

The collection of defensive line talent at Ohio State in recent years has been impressive, especially since Larry Johnson— one of the greatest d-line coaches in history— joined the team’s staff. Now, another one of the Buckeye rushmen has made the next step to the NFL, as former OSU defensive end Jalyn Holmes has been selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the No. 102 pick of the fourth round of the NFL Draft.

In his four years in Columbus, the Norfolk, Va. native accumulated 84 tackles, and played in every game during his final three seasons. A two-time All-Big Ten honorable mention, Holmes had 14 tackles-for-loss while playing along side future pros including Michael Bennett, Adolphus Washington, Joey Bosa, Noah Spence, Sam Hubbard, and Tyquan Lewis.

Holmes possesses surprising power for his 6’5, 270-pound frame. However, getting on an NFL strength program will certainly help in that department. His length gives him natural leverage against offensive linemen, but he doesn’t have the inherent speed that you would want from someone coming off of the edge. However, once he is able to get moving downfield, he does have straight-line speed.

Congratulations to Jalyn for fulfilling his dream of playing at the next level.
