Teen Digs up Human Skull for Bong; Imprisoned


18-year-old Vermont resident Nickolas Buckalew got 1-7 years in prison after pleading guilty to two felony counts of removing a tombstone and carrying away human remains. He opened the casket of a man in April, taking his head, glasses and bow tie.

A police report said he planned on drying it out and bleaching the skull before making it into a bong. He later told his friends he stole the items out of boredom. The widow of the disinterred man said she wanted no details on the incident.

Expressing his desire to get help for mental health issues doctors diagnosed him of having, he told the court that "it was a horrendous thing that I did -- what I did was appalling. I didn't think of the victim."
