Until Clarity can check out the recent hijacking attempts, all new registrations are now blocked.

Simple question Did we receive a virus??

My virus program is not running when i click scan, the program just shuts down. i think it might be adelphias, now time Warner's, problem.

Please tell me no virus

I have no idea. Clarity can answer that one better... but I can tell you this, my home PC was not effected at all, and I'm on a completely different system now and am uneffected. Of course, that may be because there is no active code? I don't know. IN any case, I have not expierenced any of the issues people are complaining of. I believe they exist, these issues, but I have not personally witnessed them.

Edit - and again, I have interacted directly with the "offending threads" Never been re-directed or anything.

Somebody (BarbaroS) posted code in the subject line of a new thread that redirected users to another website. It wasn't really a "hack" as I guess that guy would like to pretend, but it was somewhat malicious spam. Any page that had that thread title listed in it (the forum it was posted in, as well as the main forums listing when that thread was listed among the newest posts) was affected. The code showed up in my browser (and the problem was eliminated by editing the post title and getting rid of the code. I wish I would've copied and pasted it before it was eliminted, so maybe you could see what was going on. I don't think anything bad happened to my computer as a result of loading up that page I was redirected to, but it's a cause for concern if you ask me.

Do any of these threads still exist in their original form, and/or does anyone have a screenshot?

They're spoofing IP addresses, but we can see through that. I'm trying to isolate the culprit now.

I don't understand the point here, but it just figures.

Registrations are going to stay down until Wednesday. I've arranged to bring down the server Tuesday, at which time we're moving to a new operating system (we're dropping Fedora Core entirely) and upgrading vBulletin. We'll be running significantly fewer hacks after that, and I'm going to restrict HTML in posts down to an extra usergroup designation.

Adds headache, but clearly it's time to make sure everything is locked down again.
