Isaiah Pead (official thread)

not sure how to link or even if it would work since these are from old dispatch articles, but thought it was interesting (fyi: these, obviously, are not the entire articles, so i thought posting a portion would be ok):

Junior tailback Isaiah Pead, who helped Eastmoor Academy to the playoffs, was named Division IV co-offensive player of the year on the Associated Press All-Ohio team.

Pead, a track star playing his first year of football, rushed for 1,747 yards -- averaging nearly 10.5 yards per carry -- and scored 25 touchdowns as Eastmoor went 7-4.
He shared the honor with quarterbacks Dan McCarthy of state finalist Youngstown Cardinal Mooney and Kyle Simmons of Orrville. McCarthy ran for 1,150 yards and 13 touchdowns and passed for 500 yards during the regular season.

(note spelling of first name is different)

also, from preseason:

Eastmoor Academy

* Coach: Jim Miranda (year at school: fourth; career record: 63-69)

* Last year: 7-3, 6-1 (second in league)

* Top returnees: TB-CB Isaiah Pead (5-11, 175, jr.); QB-SS Terrence Drakeford (5-9, 160, jr.); FB-LB Justin Booker (5-10, 210, sr.); WR-DB Ryan Sawyer (5-10, 170, sr.); TE-DE Nathaniel Green (6-3, 205, sr.); WR-DB Aaron Mackey (6-3, 171, sr.)

also note that first story mentions "his first year of football'' but the preview article lists pead among top returnees. if '06 was, indeed, his first year of football, then, WOW!

I'm surprised we haven't heard of him earlier considering the recognition he's received and how he's been recruited since his sophomore year.

I agree that he's a tailback, but he could probably be an equally talented corner, safety, or receiver.

in addition with all honesty im sure teddy has some scoop. i dont know which division eastmoor is in anymore within the city league. and its to small to even get a guess based on unis.

Eastmoor plays in the South Division (My school is in the North). It used to be Red and Blue divisions before 2003.

Eastmoor is a Division 4 team.........but take into consideration that almost every other team in the City League is Division 2, with the exception of Africentric (D5). They face big D2 schools.

Is there interest with him and OSU?

EDIT: No Facebook or MySpace info please---21

Also..........you may want to spell his name right in the thread title.

Sorry Teddy...sometimes during the course of our tracking 300+ kids we get an A and an I backwards.

In the future, feel free to PM one of the BPRT members if you see something that needs to be corrected.

That one was for you, CrabMan. :wink2:

HE has OSU #1 on his list. Im 18 and have MANY friends at Eastmoor. Even on this kids facebook his name is Isaiah 'Future Buckeye' Pead lol.

There was no Rivals' profile listing Ohio State as an interest when the thread was started...there is now. Also, I didn't have privy to his Facebook page (yeah, my bad :roll1:), so his nickname was unknown to me. That said, it's good to hear of his interest...

Yes, I've had the honor (or should I say embarrassment) of playing against both Haw and Pead while I was in high school. Yea...we never beat Independence thanks to those guys. They both are burners no doubt...Haw seemed to be better (but maybe thats because I was only a freshman when we played against him) but Pead can do more things (ie defense, PR, KR). It would be a good pickup for Ohio State, he's only a notch or two below Saine. BTW: the City League has good talent, it just gets overlooked (I know I'm biased but whatever).
