Isaiah Pead (official thread)

do we have verbals from any borderline students currently? It was my understanding (and this may have changed) that Tress & co. had the ability to take 2 kids in each class that were considered "academic risks" Do any of our current verbals or offers include players who fall into this category?

Don't understand how fine academic institutions like IU and TSUN can get Pead in, but we can't? does it have anything to do with APR situation?

From the UC site...recaps his UC visit and again says he will visit UM on 2/1. Names a final four of Indiana, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Michigan.

This article says he does not have an offer from UM currently.

Seems as if his final four just changed, subbing in West Virginia for Michigan.

Pead's initial list of suitors included Cincinnati, Indiana, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Maryland and Illinois, but Isaiah will apparently make his final choice from a pared down list of Cincinnati, Indiana, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.

doesnt anyone think that pead might get an offer now that devoe torrence is out of the picture. I really think he wants to be a buckeye and there is now an opening at rb. We could use him as an athlete that can play multiple positions. He could be running back, wide receiver, or even a defensive back. I personally love this kid and think he would be a welcomed edition to this class. And he could help out with special teams on kick off returns, we were terrible in that area last year. Is his academics still the only thing holding him back. Michigan is in his final four and they have similar academic standards as we do. I just hate to see a kid from columbus who wants to be a buckeye and has the ability to get an offer, not get one because of grades. Any info or opinions please let me know?:oh::io:

Dispatch

Eastmoor Academy running back Isaiah Pead allowed fellow students to duct-tape him to a gymnasium wall this week to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients program. Kids bought a strip of duct tape for a dollar to secure the University of Cincinnati recruit to the wall.
Pead's participation helped the school raised $1,000 for blood cancer research. In 2006, the school raised $88 without a high-profile athlete to duct-tape.

Last week (Wednesday, May 7th) at the Marion-Franklin "Red Devil Relays" Pead ran a 10.21 in the 100 meter dash. At first I thought it was a typo in the Dispatch however today it was confirmed with the posting of the track honor roll.

100: Pead (Eastmoor Academy) 10.21; Heriot (Gahanna) 10.43; Callahan (Whetstone) 10.44; Barber (Westerville South) 10.5; Richardson (Worthington Kilbourne) 10.6; Carter (Beechcroft) 10.62; Johnson (Northland) and Gwynn (Walnut Ridge) 10.65.

FYI the (former) state record is/was held by Brandon Saine with a 10.38 in 2006.
