Is anybody watching Friday Night Lights series tonight?

I've seen a lot of crappy and unrealistic football on screen, but that was by far the worst depiction of football action ever. The hits were embarassingly bad, and the magical bomb to a wide open receiver at the end had me laughing. This was by far one of the worst shows ever.

Then you knew with it being a movie about Texas football they would have to throw racism into the show somehow. Of course they did.
At least they didn't just come right out and say there is going to be a racist sub-theme to the entire plot of the season...........oh wait, they did.

I give it a 4/10... maybe worth recording on the DVR and watching if there's nothing else on... the character "Smash" was just stupid. Very predictable... I figured it would take at least two episodes for the QB to go down... but alas he crashed and burned in the first one.

Given that I am on the staff of a real HS team, I don't really care about watching this show. That said, the social commentary on the town of Odessa and the tie ins w/ the football program was what made the book so compelling-not the fact that a bunch of HS kids were getting their asses kissed b/c the town had nothing but the football team to be proud of.

I thought the show was actually pretty good. I mean I think the whole town dependence on the team was a little overdone, and it is predictable at parts (not to mention having the QB get paralyzed on the first episode kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth), but I thought it was a cool show to watch. Not many people watch shows for "realistic" features anymore, so I would say that its pretty entertaining at least.

wtf? that show is awful. the one on MTV about Hoover is way better, plus its real.

You've got to be kidding me. I think the Friday Night Lights show is just as real as Two-A-Days is. Two-A-Days makes me feel embarrased to be a football player with how they pussify the sport by making an MTV spectacle about it. The entire show is scripted, and the acting is very awful at best. Give me Friday Night Lights every time.

do you think hoover is a made up school or something? what do you mean the acting is bad? all those games and players are real. at first i thought the same thing but then i looked them up online and they are one of the best teams in the country. all the games are from last season though. if you think it sucks thats your opinion but its way more entertaining than friday night lights. FNL is just too awful. it almost hurts to watch, its that bad.

The football is real. The off the field stuff is fake. OT: MTV does the fakest reality shows in the history of television. Do they actually think they're fooling anyone by calling it a "reality tv show"?

Yeah, Hoover is a great high school football team, but it stops at about there. Every single thing you see off the field is fake, and the clips you see from the game are carefully selected to show the game the way they want to. Do you really think they would have cameras in cheerleaders bedrooms and get the real "inside information" without making sure they put a show on? MTV hideously scripts "reality" shows. For example, when they did "Made" for Zach Wilson (who wanted to be an ice skater), they had to actually stage a "competition" to make him look like he won because he was so bad. My friend, who skates, was there and they told the crowd to cheer for him as he acted everything out. Her coach was even asked to be his Made coach, but he turned it down because they wanted him to stage out fights and practices and everything.
