OHIO STATE HOSTS IOWA THIS WEEKEND AT BILL DAVIS STADIUM

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team hosts Iowa in a key three-game Big Ten series this weekend at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes (23-18, 6-6 B1G) are currently tied for seventh in the league standings, while the Hawkeyes (24-15, 9-6 B1G) sit in fourth place at the midway point of Big Ten play. The series opens at 6:35 p.m. Friday with the middle game at 3:05 p.m. Saturday. The series concludes at 12:05 p.m. Sunday.

ZACH FARMER MEMORIAL GAME
The Zach Farmer Memorial Game will be on Saturday vs. the Hawkeyes. In the summer of 2015, the Buckeyes lost their teammate and friend Zach Farmer after his battle with leukemia. During his fight, Zach helped raise awareness for the bone marrow registry through Be The Match, starting a campus drive with help from his Buckeye teammates. The organization provides marrow transplants in the United States from volunteer unrelated donors to leukemia patients. Be The Match will be on hand in the concourse at Bill Davis Stadium Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and will accept volunteers to be swabbed for potential matches in the bone marrow registry.

Buckeyes prevent sweep with 5-1 win

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team clawed its way back into the win column with a 5-1 victory over Iowa on Sunday on the barks of the Olentangy at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The game was the first Bark in Park Day for the Buckeyes. Ohio State left-handed starting pitcher Griffan Smith limited the Iowa bats to one run on three hits with six strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work to improve to 5-2. Redshirt sophomore Brent Todys knocked three hits and drove in three runs with one double at the plate. With the win, Ohio State improves to 24-20 overall and 7-8 in Big Ten play, while the Hawkeyes drop to 26-16 overall and 11-7 in conference action.
