I've never seen a player that could simultaneously keep his team both IN and OUT of games like Ricky Stanzi. They might have a better shot starting Vandenberg against us again. Vandenberg is the Mandenberg.

Oh come on...be honest...you guys just want more opportunities to see Vandenberg's mom.

The silver lining for the BigTen in this one is the lesson to be learned from bad special teams play. Iowa were horrible early on and did well to come back and erase the deficit away from home. Several BigTen teams have been pretty bad on special teams, including the Buckeyes. Iowa was the better team but down 14-0 so early was always going to be hard to overcome.
I'm not so sure about that. Sure they fell behind 14-0 because of a blocked punt and a tipped pick six but Arizona also gave up a pick six and had a fumble on a punt return that led to a TD. The was I see Iowa tied it up in the 4th quarter, you got a brand new game. Arizona took their first posession afterward and marched down and scored a TD. Iowa proceeded to get sacked 5 straight times though one didn't count due to a false start. This Hawkeye team is vastly over rated. Wisky is too. The big ten may only get one team in a BCS bowl this year. Other than Ohio State no one else looks like a legit top 10 team.

Too early to tell imo. One of the things I love about college football is the fact that a team can improve tremendously over the course of a season, as the younger players get experience. Hell, JT preaches it. We'll see who's left standing at the end of November.

That BCS assertion is vastly overrated. Seems like people say that every year, and at the end there's two Big Ten teams in BCS games more often than not. The Big Ten has put a second team in a BCS bowl in 9/12 seasons. That's more at-large bids than any other conference. They've done it in each of the last five seasons.

Yes that's true and they were all well deserved but this year I just don't see that second great team. I think Sparty, Iowa, Wisconsin, State Penn, Northwestern and scUM will beat each other up and the bottom of the conference is as bad if not worse than the other AQ conferences.

If that's true, that would bode well for the chances of getting an at-large bid for the Big Ten, wouldn't it? More automatic, easy wins.

It doesn't necessarily take a second great team to get that at-large bid. Just a "good enough" team.

If we do it again this season, it will be more a matter of how badly the ACC and Big Least suck. There sure won't be any second-place teams from those conferences that play in the BCS.

Obviously, if the Buckeyes somehow screw the pooch and lose in-conference, then the likelihood of the Big Ten having two BCS bowl teams goes up exponentially.

I just hope at least two of PSU, Ioduh, and Wisky stay ranked 20 or higher for the season. Our SOS might not match up with undefeated teams from the PAC 10, SEC, or Big 12.

Pac-10 will not produce an undefeated team, imo. But the bottom line is that we are in unless we lose a game, in all likelyhood. I don't see us slipping below #2 in the polls unless we lose.

You know something...there's an old expression about BP that goes something like: "that's just Sparty being Sparty." Seems like we're in need of another expression because this season is just Iowa being Iowa.

I told my wife that after the game: "It's IOWA, WTF do you expect?" I simply don't worry about Iowa as a threat to OSU. Wiscy, on the other hand, despite their inconsistency so far, I do worry about.

Off-topic, I told my wife something similar about the Dallas Cowboys: "If your coach is Wade Phillips and your QB is Tony Romo, why TF do you think you should have high expectations?"

In regards to the Pac10, we've seen this show from Oregon before. They will drop 1 or 2 games. Stanford is the team to beat in the Pac10 IMO. VERY physicial team with an efficient offense and pretty good defense thus far.
