384 is a good upload though, wish I had it.
Originally cable provided great download with poor upload while DSL provided decent capabilities both way (much slower download though). While this has evened out a bit, the origin of this issue is due to the original configuration of cable lines.
Cable was not made to accept upload information. Upload on Cable used to be ridiculously slow while download speeds destroyed DSL and other solutions. It has been altered a bit to allow a greater speed, but two things have happened: 1) cable still isn't suited to be a great upload connection; 2) cable companies don't want people hosting servers and maximizing bandwidth on their neighborhood connection.
Some argue that #2 is the main problem, whilst the cable companies continue to point to #1.
