Indians Tidbits (2008 season)

Excellent outing by Fausto

hopefully they can get some offense going here in game 2
The scary part is that he's maintaining a 2.40 ERA with an awful K/BB ratio right now. If he can get his control together, he'll be damn near unbeatable.

Cliff looking great again so far, the bats, not really.

...aaaand they blow a nine inning shutout by Cliff Lee. Worthless shitbags. You know, I saw reason for optimism a couple nights ago about the offense and shockingly they turn right back into the vacuum they were before. The sad thing is that this division is so pathetic right now that this team may just stay in the postseason race based off the strength of the starting pitching. And of course if that happens, C.C. walks after the season and all we get are some draft picks and swept if we stumble into the playoffs. Hooray.

Cleveland Indians split doubleheader with Toronto Blue Jays, get rare unassisted triple play

Lee matches Carmona's nine scoreless innings with nine of his own in nightcap, but Betancourt and Tribe bats dull Cabrera's unassisted triple play

Fausto Carmona took care of the first game and Cliff Lee took care of most of the second, but the best the Indians could do Monday at Progressive Field was split a doubleheader with Toronto.
The Indians won the first game, 3-0, but nine scoreless innings from Lee and the third unassisted triple play in franchise history weren't enough to complete the sweep as Toronto won the second game, 3-0, in 10 innings.
The Blue Jays scored all three runs in the 10th off Rafael Betancourt to end the Indians' scoreless inning streak at 31.

Neal Ball and Bill Wambsganss have company.
Monday night in Progressive Field, second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera joined Ball and Wamby as the only players in Indians history with unassisted triple plays.
Cabrera turned his triple play in the fifth inning of the second game of a doubleheader against Toronto. The Indians lost, 3-0, in 10 innings.
