Penix says IU will 'shock the world' against Ohio State, Big Ten
Perhaps 2020, with everything that has gone on the last nine months, will finally be the year where the Hoosiers emerge. After fourth-year head coach Tom Allen led IU to an 8-5 record, a Gator Bowl trip and an appearance in the AP Poll top 25 rankings last season, things are moving in the right direction in Bloomington.
If IU is to have an even better season than 2019 and be in the conversation for Big Ten supremacy, Indiana will need to get at least one major upset win. In addition to facing Rutgers, Michigan State, Maryland and in-state rivals Purdue, the Hoosiers have dates with Penn State and Michigan at Memorial Stadium in the team's first three games of the season and face Ohio State in Columbus in late November.
According to IU quarterback Michael Penix Jr., these games shouldn't be a major issue for Indiana in 2020. Speaking to the media this week, Penix, who battled injuries a year ago and missed out on all three contests against the Big Ten East powerhouses, answered a question about the chance to face the Nittany Lions, Wolverines and Buckeyes in 2020. His answer showed the confidence those in Bloomington will appreciate from the redshirt sophomore.
“We’re definitely going to come out and dominate,” Penix said. “I feel like we’re going to do good, the team is definitely ready for these big games. And I feel like we’re going to shock the world. I know we are.”
