The Buckeyes look to continue their tradition of excellence in the backfield with a new offer.
OSU sends out two offers
While there is plenty of time until the ink hits the paper, Ohio State is actively searching for another running back to pair with '17 RB Todd Sibley of Archbishop Hoban (OH) for next year's recruiting class. With offers already extended to a host of backs like Cam Akers (Alabama commit), Kyshaun Bryan, Najee Harris (Alabama commit), Adarius Lemons, Trey Sermon, and more, the Buckeyes are leaving no stone unturned. On Wednesday, it was '17 RB J.K. Dobbins from La Grange (TX) who snagged an offer from the Scarlet and Gray.
Dobbins, a 5'10, 200-pounder, is graded as a four-star prospect in the 2017 class. The Texan is currently the 60th overall player in the class and the No. 4 all-purpose back in the country. Lastly, he comes in at sixth among the prospects from the always star-filled Lone Star State. It'll be interesting to see if the Bucks can make a move for Dobbins and get him on campus in the future.
Another prospect who received an offer from Ohio State yesterday was '18 OT Nicholas Petit-Frere. The 6'6, 235-pound Floridian attends Berekely Prep in the Sunshine State and already holds an offer from the Buckeyes' arch-rival Michigan Wolverines. Undoubtedly more teams will jump into this race as Petit-Frere is likely to be one of the nation's top prospects at his position.
Buckeyes litter new 247Sports rankings
247Sports released their latest 2017 rankings on Wednesday and Ohio State commits/targets are everywhere. Leading the way for Buckeye commits is '17 OT Josh Myers, who is ranked at No. 4 and is easily a five-star prospect. '17 CB Shaun Wade is knocking on the door for a five-star ranking from 247Sports as he falls at 20th overall. '17 OT Jake Moretti and '17 SAF Brendon White are also listed as top 50 prospects. '17 OLB Isaiah Pryor and '17 DT Haskell Garrett are Top 100 prospects -- Pryor just missed the top 50, as he came in at 55th.
Other commits: Marcus Williamson (128), Jerron Cage (131), Danny Clark (199), Todd Sibley (238), Blake Haubeil (NA).
As for the prospects that the Buckeyes are targeting, while they mostly fill up the entire list, here are a few notables:
