3 days away. I can't wait to wake up about 7 or 8. Sleep still in my eyes. Haphazardly slide on the Troy Smith jersey and almost feel the power put some kind of energy into me.
Drive to Columbus watching the rolling fields pass on I-70. Only a 45 minute drive, but it's almost like I can anticipate the smell of hot dogs, brats and burgers on the grill. By far the best smell on Earth. Finding a parking spot and heading to my buddy's tailgate area by Bill Davis.
Eyes still half open at about 8 or 9, first beer in hand as soon as possible. Chatting up Buckeye football with nearly every passerby, every one of them a family member I haven't seen in ages. This is one of the greatest things I love about Buck fans. We may not know each other, but for one great day every week, we congregate, and we all immediately remember the "good ole days". We act like we've known each other for years, as we all pontificate and prognosticate what the year will hold, as well as scream out a chorus of "O-H"s and "I-O"s and "f*ck michigans!".
Being thoroughly lit, I will stumble to the stadium, stagger all the way to the top of 39b to find my seat. When the ramp entrance begins I will feel the electricity resonante throughout the stadium. The energy, excitement and anticipation of another seaosn of Buckeye football is almost palpable. I'll watch the NIU fans marvel in amazement of being in the greatest stadium in college football and watch them nearly cower and the magnificence that is the Buckeye Nation.
Oh sure I'll watch Troy run and throw, watch Teddy and Tony and Tony burn, hack, slash their ways into the endzone. We'll see Marcus dragging Garret Wolfe down time and again behind the line of scrimmage. I will see a combination of Rose/Gholston/Wilson/Richardson devour all american tackle Doug Free on their way to eat Horvath and/or Nicholson.
But that's a partial reason for going. I could see that on television. The reason to see a game live is to experience what the Buckeye Experience is really all about. The food, the smells, the feel of a HOPEFULLY beautiful saturday afternoon, and the comraderie between total strangers is the Buckeye experience.
So I leave with two things....
It is 8:43 Am and Michigan still sucks...and of course
