I'm moving...and I need help.

Mac

That's a pain in the buns
Okay so I currently live just off campus and I will be moving into a new apartment with one of my good friends. I currently have Time Warner cable, and I am worried about possibly not getting Big Ten Network, and also would like to save some money, so I will be getting WOW.

I move in mid September, but I need help. I just bought a 32" HDTV and I don't know what I need so that I can view HD channels (equipment wise). I know that I will have to purchase Digital _____ Cable from WOW. I got on WOW's website to look at what I am dealing with, and after I choose the package, it makes me decide on a BUNCH of options. Maybe I'll take a picture and I'll edit it in here.

Can you guys help me out?

If you have an HDTV, you shouldn't need anything else to view HD channels. Some people will recommend HDMI cables to improve the signal from the box, but they are expensive. Another thing to look into is an HD antenna in case a game is televised on local and not broadcast locally in HD, but local channels are typically available in HD these days. Hope this helps.

As far as cable is concerned, be sure to get an HD box from them.

Monoprice.com. About 2000% cheaper than Best Buy ($5 is pretty common).

That is what is asking me...What do I need or is what I have selected good?

Okay so there's only 1 HDTV in the apartment and what I have selected is good? I think the reason why it's asking twice is because there could be more HDTV's in the apartment other than just 1 but we aren't going to....

Sorry I'm new to this (ordering) and I'm a little confused

No worries - so you just need 1 HD(DVR) receiver, and the other two will be either digital cable receivers or DVR receivers, depending on preference.

I only want the HD/Digital cable on that one TV. So the TV I bought, will have to have a HD receiver and Digital receiver or just the HD?

And the other 2 TV's I can just use right out of the cable from the wall?

Is that correct?

Unless you don't want "full" cable, you will need a box for each TV.

Your HDTV should be 'cable-ready' meaning that all you need is the HD box from WOW (or whoever) and a connector from the HD box from the cable company. The cable company will likely provide you with RCA cables (red, yellow, white, etc. tipped cables), you may want to opt for an HDMI cable (mentioned above).

The other TVs will need the receivers (which are all digital now) to get full cable. Not sure what, if anything, will come directly from the wall without a receiver - probably a very basic set of channels.

They will give you an HD box for the HDTV. It will come with component cables. Component actually looked better than HDMI on my TV. That's what I'm using on my 50" plasma.

The other TV's will get all the standard and basic channels (all the double-digits) straight from the wall through coax. If you want them to receive the digital basic channels (anything over 99) they will each need a box from WOW.
