I''m joining a Rugby team here locally. uh..what are the rules?

its surprisningly incredibly organized, go get a copy of rugby 06 and just get out and play. If your ever up or have TiVo, games are on around 2 and 4 am on FSW or the now the fox soocer channel or something, 125 on TW cable. You'll be a little confused going into your first game, but after the 1st half you'll know everything you need to pretty much.

We were playing about 10 on 10 or so.... There were three guys in front of me in the "scrum" I think and then I was one of the two guys behind them. I think I was to the left of the "hooker". (these names crack me up). anyway since we didn't have a full team, I'm not sure where I normally would be, but I'm guessing in that general vicinity.

Now for the "no homo" part... We had to reach between the guys legs and grab his shirt and push like a madman. uh....wow that sounds gay but again, I say 'no homo'

I still have my ears too.... it was a scrimmage and I'd guess we only went around 80% or so.

It was weird seeing the ball on the ground and nobody doing anything - or waiting for people to position themselves or whatever..... I picked up the ball and ran like hell...and after the play was over...I got some atta boys and a couple... "dude, the scrumhalf(sp?) was there...let him get it"... uh... I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I AM DOING!?! LMAO.

BSH sees ball... BSH takes ball... BSH runs w/ ball.

When in doubt, that's not a bad thing to do. Run forward and make somebody hit you. A lot of American guys who played lineman in high school love rugby because they get to do something with the ball now and then and not just block for the little guys.

If you don't already hate it, stick with it and it will grow on you. If you continue to play, make sure you get into the gym and lift once or twice a week, at least. The seasons where I've been the most beat up have been when I didn't stick with the weights and stretching. I feel like hell right now, but I know I'll feel better tomorrow and will be less likely to be hurt on Saturday, if I'm in the gym tonight and one other night this week.

I knocked the holy dog shit out of a guy Saturday, but I'm pretty sure I got the worst of it. Shoulder stinger and my left arm went numb for a couple of minutes.

BSH stick with it. It is a really fun game and the comraderie is legendary. Once you begin to learn about the strategy, you see that it is a very strategic game. But like Rugby says, pick up the ball and run through somebody doesn't ever seem to be all that wrong!

I pretty well blew out my left shoulder Saturday. I feel like MoC with shoulder stingers in consecutive weeks. Next thing you know, I'll be filing fake insurance claims and robbing people of their cell phones in front of my neighborhood bartender.

I'm done for the spring season, but summer is right around the corner. Rugby gets in your blood and the more you bleed, the stronger it is.
