The most glaring issue is coaching. I am an expert at this stuff so here me out. The lack of incorporating pro style offense principles in cold weather is what prohibits this team from becoming Alabama. This is not Gainsville (hot weather), and he will not get the second title he did there. We constantly for the past 5 years have had the second best roster to Alabama, and we constantly underachieve. Jim Tressel over achieved a lot reference the 2002 team vs Miami Fl.

I am advocating making a change and firing Meyer and bringing in Mark Dantonio. We need to get back to the traditional pro style formation, which you can still win with reference Georgia. This is the best way forward. This is typicall where Meyer gets worn out anyway year 6 like in Florida.

Dantonio was the defensive coordinator for the Ohio St team that beat Miami Fl. He was tutored under Tressel and Nick Saban and imo is the best college coach in America second to Saban.
 
This roster is stacked. The issue is obvious. Rich Rod was a bad fit in Michigan and he got fired. I give credit to Meyer and will always be grateful for the 2014 run. But the spread offense is not what Ohio St is about. This is not our foundation, and you cannot do this year in and year out in the cold weather. As the season gets longer, you will usually lose 1 or 2 games because of cold/ windy weather.
The fact that he did not want to run the ball more in 2015 (Elliot) is a coaching error. This tells me all. He is a pass first coach, and will never work for more than 5 years at Ohio St. Get Dantonio on the phone right now and give him the program.

I don't think the program is about to spiral out of control, but Urban needs to honestly reevaluate his program. Correct. To many blowouts given this talent on the team. Our second team is better than most first team units of other teams in the Big 10. Sorry this unacceptable. This is the third straight year of the team looking silly in most big games. 2015 - MSU 2016 - Penn St, Clemson 2017 , OK,Iowa.

He simply has to go. I studied his team in Gainsville. The guy is a pure spread offense coach. These teams cannot sustain success in the long run anyway, which is why he bolts. The spread offense is based on quaterback excellence (Tebow, Alex Smith, Braxton Miller). God for bit he doesn't get a solid quaterback next year, we may end up with 6 loses.

I am an expert hear me out lol... just gold I love it. I'm going to use that at work on Monday because it really works for a minute.

I'm thinking you have like 25 years of coaching experience or something lol haha... then you lay out the "fire urban for mark".

Seriously just stop posting you're not a smart person.

You want to ignore getting blown out to Clemson and Iowa and Oklahoma. Gene Chizik also won before and got fired. Stoops is gone, because he couldn't win anymore the big games. I don't give 2 fucks what you did yesterday. The program is declining, to the point with a veteran qb we are no longer in competition for the playoff.

Dantonio went 3-9 last year and is in the twilight of his career...

The smart guys get rid of the declining coach before it is too late and you screw up future recruiting classes. I see this as a pivotal point going forward. Do the right thing and bring in Dantonio and let Meyer go. You cannot lose to mother fucking Iowa by 30 points. This is a joke it really is. I do not care if the quaterback had 4 int or 5 int. The old Ohio St defense would hold up under Tressel .

He is coaching 3 stars. This is a big difference. Our roster is loaded with 4 and 5 stars. He just beat Penn St. I will take him over Meyer anyday. I saw enough from the 2015 game when Michigan St beat like 5 first round picks and 15 draftable players in that draft.

While I agree that something is wrong here you don't can a guy who's a top 5 coach in the country.

Personally I think we need to take more Ohio Kids, focus less on speed and get bigger in our front 7, and streamline our mission/vision for our program.

Personally I'd rally around "brotherhood" and drop " a to b 4 to 6" as well as drop the rating system and the color system.

Imo coach is over thinking everything and I mean everything. Simplify it all and focus on family.

Final point why Dantonio would do what Kirby smart did at Georgia. It will be a quick turnaround. You will see fundamental tackling and line play. He will have the athletes that his Michigan State team did not have. We will rarely if ever not be in a game similar to Alabama. We will have a chance to get a dynasty going. You will not see a team flail in the cold again and in windy conditions.
Dantonio teams never beat themselves, and he a protege of Saban and Tressel. I want to see us win 3 titles in 5 years, he has the best shot at achieving this.
