Zook is actually a decent coach, and probably just what Illinois needs. He may not be the megahire, but it's good for a team that has been terrible recently, and it is better than anyone that Indiana, Notre Dame, and a handful of other "better" schools will get. One thing I have noticed about the Illini is that they just don't seem to want to play for Turner, and Zook won't have that problem.

Anyone else think its interesting he doesn't have to change any of his decorations around his house, just the logos? Maybe if he had gators or something, but he's still bright orange and blue. :)

hey guys. this is my first post. i live in chicago, but i'm an OSU fan, and something worries me: Illinois. they are recruiting hard nationally, but they have i think about 5 ohio guys this year and are in position with a couple of '07 guys. they've offered torrence, and i guess they're looking to offer andrew dailey and especially morgan williams since they got a commitment from joe morgan. they might be after more than them. how much of this interest is real? and who else are they after that aren't listed on the rivals and scout databases? i would hate to see them steal some of our top players. they aren't that good now, but they're definitely coming up.

being from Chicago too, Illinois has some really good talent espicially around the city that Illinois will get. Most Ohio kids want to go to Ohio State, so i wouldnt worry too much, espicially from a program that did not do anything this year. I think Zook is a great recruiter but everyone will be able to see he is not a very good coach. I epsically wouldnt worry about torrence. he has nothign but OSU written all over him unless he goes to play baseball.

Former OSU player Dino Dawson (later transferred to Kent) is recruiting Ohio for the Illini.Dawson in an interview with Bill Conley a while back said that Zook wanted to get into Ohio and make some in roads.They are making a dent and with JT targeting a smaller pool of players there are many quality players out there in the state who will not get the OSU offer they were looking for.

Zook can recruit all he wants...there is a pecking order that has already been long estbalished with tOSU at the top and scUM in second. Besides, Zook recruited well at Florida...and couldn't translate it to "on field" performance.

No worries at all.
