If you want to watch soccer, then watch soccer & leave football alone

I made the fellowing two posts in the uniform thread almost two weeks ago.

As you can see I am a little ranty on the topic. Still, if you constantly feel the need to discuss how college football would be better if only it was more like european soccer leagues...then you have no business watching college football.

Period. End of story.

The whole idea that college football uniforms should be stealing ideas from euro soccer teams need to stop.

As in throwing one's entire weight against the brake lever & sparks flying off the wheels as they lock up on the tracks stop.

People, I'm sorry you got stuck playing soccer as a kid. I'm sorry that you don't realize that watching the crap on TV is about as exciting as watching some stranger's dog run circles at the local park.

YOU are the reason America is going down the toilet, you hipster doofus wannabee poseurs.

Yes I'm looking at you Eleven Warriors.

Hey I played soccer for 9 years before I became a mediocre HS player. Yet somehow I manage still have enough sense to understand that yellow & red cards have no business in football & introducing relegation to a sport that is strongly defined by regional conference affiliations is brain dead.
.../snip/...

Which brings us to the below which went up on 11W today.

Now i know Ramzy is just trolling me...

If you want to get even more serious about promoting a culture of safety, adopt the yellow/red card system from soccer and apply it to the guilty. Two yellows or one red result in a next-game suspension. Four yellows or two reds gets a five-game ban. Make repeated headhunting as punitive as selling a Fiesta Bowl ring.

For the love of all that is good and decent, stop, just stop.

No European style uniforms. No relegation. No yellow & red cards. No freakin' air horns, thundersticks, vuvuzelas or other lame noise makers.

That's the real problem, this assumption right here. No one actually wants to do that. (Well, at least in not any "more serious" way)

Here's what I want to see, some poor schmuck Sun Belt referees in a non-confernece game hand out 12 red cards to Auburn players the week before they play Alabama.

Hmm, wait, no... this is an awesome idea.

I watch a good amount of Soccer (Virtually all European based), but not seeing how any rationale person could see any correlation between the two sports. There is almost no comparison at all. Whoever these fools are that think bringing the discipline rules from that sport into Football is even remotely close to a sensible idea need to be publicly flogged and then flayed for all to see. I don't think I've ever heard of a worse idea in my entire life. Two completely different sports and it should be kept that way.

This is the first thing that popped in my head when I first saw this. Very fitting.

From today's article Why College Football Will Be Dead in 20 Years there was this in the comments:

I kinda think football should go the way European soccer does it. Get the guys out of here who just want to go pro and put them into "football clubs" where they get an education but are actually trained to play professional sports. Then let Collegiate athletes be actual students, not quasi-celebrity superheroes that we critique way too much and people make way too much money off of.

It's fascinating that a week doesn't go by without a 'let's implement this idea from eurosoccer' suggestion of some sort or another...and now it's filtered down to the hangers on.

Note in addition to the constant suggestions to make college football more 'soccerlike' 11W also commonly has plenty of doom & gloom articles about the future of college football.

I honestly think Ramzy & Co only write about Buckeye football because they know no one will read the stories they really want to write about... French Ligue 1 clubs.
