If Malcolm, James & Vernon Stay...

I just have this feeling they all go!

I would put all my vmoney (I know - not much) on Laurinaitis staying. Jenkins is gone. I get the feeling that DB's rely more on speed than they do reading the offensive play and reacting, while LB is more on reacting, film study, and overall preparation than simply athletic ability. One more season in college for a DB won't turn a great player into a hall-of-fame player. But one more season for a LB CAN turn a great player into a hall-of-fame player.

Just my opinion.

We don't exactly have the best track record with stud juniors sticking around (exceptions of course)...

Mike Doss... Will Smith... A.J. Hawk... Bobby Carpenter...

We have better luck with stud juniors on D sticking around than on O. That said though, Jenkins is gone, I'll be surprised if Laurinitis leaves, and Gholston oughta be on the fence (could be looking for a Santonio Holmes "Money Year"- if he plays well, he goes... if not, he'll come back).

Those four were greats, but the likes of Gamble, Clements, Springs, D.Ross came straight to mind I suppose because they all played the same position. Either way, you're right. The offensive players seem less likely to come back for their senior year.

Jenkins should be a front runner for the Thorpe award this season and if he gets it, he should go. Vernon's situation isnt like Holmes as far as I know, with the kids to feed. Vernon could very well end up a high pick depending on how he plays this season. He needs to pick up the sack total though to go high enough in the draft to really consider it, imo.

IMO a lot of wishful thinking going on. First round candidates who stay are becoming the exception rather than the rule. If we keep two of the three in the title of this thread I am more surprised than I would be if we lost them all.

And while I agree that Boone is not a first round candidate that opinion is based on his performance as a true Soph. He absolutely has the POTENTIAL to become a first round pick based on his performance this year. Rehring is not out of the question either.
