"I'dve" IS in the dictionary as a properly formed contraction - but only as it applies to activities in and around the muff.

Thank you for all the replies - they've been most enlightening.
I think I'll refrain from including I'd've in the business correspondence I've been working on. I will continue to use in verbally, however.
FWIW, the context I was going to use it:
"I'd've governed myself accordingly if I were you"
