DEBuckeye

It ain't easy, bein' cheesy.
Check it out- I'm on vacation this week, and I spent Wed. and Thurs. at Augusta National to see a practice round (Wed) and the first round of competition (Thurs) at The Masters. Has anybody else been there?

That place is just awesome. Not a weed or a brown blade of grass anywhere on the course. Even the open walking areas are nicer than most fairways you'll see at a "normal" golf course. We got to see most of the big guys at one point or another- Tiger, Vijay, Mickelson, Couples, Daly (saw him just CRUSH a drive off the tee), Nicklaus, Leonard, Sergio, etc, etc, etc....

The course looks fantastic on TV, but that doesn't do it justice. In person, it's just awesome.

No, but I did attend the final round of the 1990 British Open at St. Andrews. That course isn't quite so pristine, but I'm somewhat of a history buff.

Been there 3 times, It was even better 10 years ago, but still is wonderful on TV and especially in person. How did you get tickets? Scalper? If so, I'm sure I'm not alone in being curious how much it was. To the best of my knowledge, practice round passes are going for 100 or more. I didn't even know you could get tournament passes, if so the price must be quite steep. You're lucky you got to see it though, you'll never forget it.

I have been there once. The thing that amazed me that you do not notice nearly as much on TV is how much elevation changes there are. There are some real big hills on that course. You are right about the conditions. Even the areas that are out of play are immaculate. I will never forget driving into the course on Magnolia Lane I was only there for a practice round, yet I was nervous. It just gives you goose bumps to enter that place.
