IMO we have a shot at the NC. I haven't seen a team stand out this year. I know it's only week 2 but i'm not seeing anything that great from ranked teams.
The Big Ten looks like the best conference right now.

If we can get through the non-conference schedule undefeated I think we can run the table.

IMO these are our pitfall games
@NcSt
@Iowa
Wisky
@Purdue
Michigan

It's possible but unlikely with such a young and inexperienced football team.

Next year would seem a more logical choice for a run at the NC.

After watching the two QB's in last night's FSU.vs. Miami game, I appreciate our QB's that much more. Those two teams showed some very good defenses but their offenses looked rather pathetic.

The good thing about inexperienced football teams is that they eventually become experienced. These guys won't be rookies come late November.

I agree that no one has really stood out. The media hacks want to pump up Oklahoma and USC, but this is one of those seasons that proves the point for people who think that polls shouldn't come out until after week 5. It should be interesting watching this season shake out.

I agree also with the no stand-outs thing. I foresee a strong possibility of no undefeated teams, which will be crazy in a poll-driven BCS formula.

Anyway, I imagine a few teams will step up OTHER than Oklahoma and USC.

Funny, I've essentially said nothing. This is every year: a few darlings and then the teams that actually end up being good. I'll just stop typing now. . .

maybe the fact that their offenses were pathetic made their defenses LOOK good?

i didnt see any good defensive play outside of that DB for FSU (i dont know why i cant think of his name....the one who scored and hurt his knee). the rest of the "defense" in that game looked like shit.

you listed 5 "pitfall" games. while i like our chances in each one of those games individually, it'll be tough for these guys to come out victorius in all of them, especially since wisky/iowa and purdue/scum are back-to-back. emotional let downs can happen, just look at last year's scum game.

I thnk of the NCSU game as more of a measuring stick than a pitfall.

While a Nat'l Champ'ship may be a team goal, I don't think 11-0 is a realistic expectation. I think the NCSU game will give us an idea how OSU matches up athlete wise with other teams. It will also provide experience playing on the road before the league schedule starts. At some point the young Bucks need to learn how to face adversity in a hostile environment and overcome those things and win. They may not be able to learn all the lessons they must while winning all the games.

There is no on the schedule that is not winnable but the 2004 Bucks have many things to prove to themselves.

You know what the worst part of this question is? If it is a no, which I can live with, but it will mean we probably didn't win the Big-10 or we probably didn't beat Michigan. If those 2 things happen we have a damn good shot.

Not this year

These guys are very beatable. Whenever you have a QB and a RB who can't hold onto the rock, you're eventually gonna get stung.

If we can get Tim Anderson back in the game, we might have a better shot. See you in '05.

There is a chance we could get beat just like any team. What I prefer to look at is do we have a game where I think we are likely to get beat. To be honest if we can get through this weeks game vs NCST, I don't know if there is another game that scares me that much on the schedule.

Purdue is looking awfully good the first two weeks. They have an experienced QB, RB and WR who are team leaders. Purdue gets OSU at home with a chip on its shoulder. The only thing they need to worry about is whether they peak in weeks 1-4 rather weeks 7-11.
